I have to say though that I also can't see the pic in your post above, I'm on a W10 laptop. Keith Ok thanks. Looks like I'm stuck with Village Photos. At least it works! Thanks for the encouraging comment as well! Al

general melchett
Great stuff Al, some really nice detail work going on there, should be a belter. A rather interesting and ungainly version of the old F-16 but then I'm fond of anything with odd lumps and bumps all over it, just ask the wife.....

Alan P
My building rate has far outstripped my photography, so only a couple of pics but lots of progress! Here are the remaining bits of ordnance - tanks, JDAMs, GBU-12s and AAMs. The UAE recently acquired AIM-9X so I'm going to add those. The bombs will be blue dummy rounds which can be interchanged on the magnetic racks with live GBU-24s or missiles. I'll probably do the AAMs as training rounds as I don't have the decals for the AIM-9X! Also in the pic is the freshly repainted cockpit surround (the black suffered a bit from the placement of the canopy as a mask). Also, the display canopy has had the black framing painted rather than use the kit decals. Once the black enamel was dry, I took it indoors for a spot of decalling. The IsraDecal set is a delight to use. I am applying on a very smooth glossy finish using MicroSet and Sol and the results are excellent. Mercifully the UAE jets are remarkably stencil-free compared to the Israeli Sufa so this whole job only took two evenings. Since this photo I've also applied Ultimate panel wash to bring out the detail - it didn't work brilliantly and tends to stick in the corners in a very annoying way, so I won't be using it again for camouflage finishes (still works well on metallics). The wings look nice though, so I'll post pics soon! Cheers, Al Edited August 22, 2017 by Alan P
keefr22
Can't 'Like' (or otherwise 'react') to your posts here either Al, so I'll have to say I really like how that jet is looking! The scheme looks great & that fin flash really sets it off - & everything is beautifully applied! Great stuff ! Keith

keefr22
Not a clue sorry Al, Ced first noticed it on one of your posts in one of his threads... You're most welcome by the way... Keith
Alan P
Lack of 'likes' notwithstanding, we move on! Matt coat applied (used Testors Dullcote thinned 50% with Mr Color Leveling Thinner): Landing gear attached: Also added weathering with pastel chalks. Don't want to overdo it. Fitted the exhaust nozzle: Spent the rest of the time finishing the landing gear. I'm going to put lots of photos because it's the best fast jet landing gear and bays I've ever done! #brag Wiring added using enamelled copper wire in various gauges, and some parts from the Eduard wheelwell set. Would be something of an understatement to say I'm pleased with how this has turned out! Considering I haven't made a model this calendar year so far. Cheers for looking, and sorry there are no like buttons on my posts! Still mystified about that. Al
keefr22
''Like''.... I think you have every reason to be pleased with it Al, it's a real stunner! Love the subtle weathering, it really complements that excellent paint job! And the wheelbays are tremendous! Great job! Keith

planehazza
Seriously epic build. Any issues with the intake emulsion peeling? Any tips to avoid runs? I'll be doing a paint pour on my 1/48 Viper, but I can't decide between Tamiya X2 or a semi gloss emulsion.
