Jegouar
Welcome to my first attempt at a 'Work in Progress' post. The subject matter is this, the Trumpeter 1/32 Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-3; a kit dating back to 2004 apparently: I bought this kit on good old eBay with lots of aftermarket goodies included. The Aires cockpit set: Eduard photo-etched sets: Quickboost exhaust and Aerobonus pilot: The figure is new territory for me. I frequently see figures and dioramas at model shows and think 'I wish I could do that' but never get round to actually trying. Although the scheme depicted on the box artwork is great, I quite fancied tackling a more 'rough and ready' winter paint job. This Montex mask has just the thing, the standard camouflage with white slapped on roughly in the field to the tail and outer wings: This should provide good company in the display cabinet for my Special Hobby 1/32 I-16 type 17: Like many of us I am making the move from enamel to acrylic paint. The I-16 was finished using White Ensign enamels, for the MiG-3 I have picked up this handy set from Vallejo: And for our man in the cockpit: My main printed reference is this book from the excellent Mushroom series: It even has a profile of my chosen subject, with a name for the pilot: Lieutenant Panfilov Evgenyi Maksimovich.
