rockpopandchips
So I want to have a go at making an insect type paint effect with a black, blue and greens, the sort of colours you see on beetles. Any recommendations on paint, how I might go about doing it, an idiots guild would be great. Is it even worth doing on a Gundam kit? I see Createx do some paints but this company get some very bad reviews, Hobbynox I can get from my LHS but know nothing of this brand,Hobbynox Any help at all would be great. Thanks Brian

Thud4444
There was a girl on YouTube who had some really great iridescent painted Gundams that she used, believe it or not, nail polish on. This was years ago (back when Gundam Wing was a big deal) now I can't find the videos anywhere. I'll keep looking.
Nocoolname
I got a set of these a while back for the aztec effect on a Star Trek kit but I've not had the chance to use them yet. They're a bit smelly, being lacquer based I believe. https://www.specialistpaints.com/collections/inspire-airbrush/products/airbrush-pearl

Nocoolname
As mentioned, I've not yet tried them but they're supposed to be a mix between clear and the respective irridescent colour. That's why I bought them, so that they could be sprayed over the off-white base and provide just enough irridescent colour to provide the aztec effect.

Sorry, I meant are they a clear liquid in the bottle. Reason I ask is I see they do a gold pearl effect and was wondering if it may be a possibility for the gold canopy sheen on the Raptor. A clear liquid would be a good starting point.
rockpopandchips
If they are anything like the MR Hobby / Crystal they are very slightly milky translucent fished to them over clear plastic. I have some of this and its very definiteness pearl looks great over a very bright white.
