vh-bob
Another great build. I have this kit and while I think I have a reasonable idea of aviation history I had not seen this version and was afraid that it was a "what if". Well done, Trev (vh-bob) Edited June 1, 2017 by vh-bob unfinished post

Well done, Trev (vh-bob) Hi Trev, After Googling to find a link on thisi version's background I found I have, after al, posted this build on Britmodeller before - so much for my memory! my apologies to all for the double up. The version I have finished mine as is included in the RS Models kit, although some scratch-built modifications are needed as described by Jim Schubert in his excellent review of the kit on Intenet Modeller: http://www.internetmodeler.com/scalemodels/flaviation/RS-Models-1-72-Ryan-NYP-NYP-2.php Wikipedia advises that the NYP-2 was "an exact duplicate of the Spirit of St. Louis, was built 45 days after the transatlantic flight, for the Japanese newspaper Mainichi. The NYP-2 carrying serial number 29 was registered as J-BACC and achieved a number of record-breaking flights early in 1928 before a crash ended its career." I am aware from Jim's notes that there were some subtle differences to The Spirit of St Louis, but these were relatively minor.
