Gene K
Heads up. I started taping and dry fitting my FJ-3, and in Step One (!) of the instructions was surprised to see errors in how the guns are labelled. Specifically parts B3 and B4, as well as B5 and B6, labels are reversed (in other words the instructions indicate B3 when it should be B4, etc). The drawings are correct, the labels are not. (same as FJ-2 kit) No big deal if it's noted before gluing. Hopefully that's the only error in the nicely done instruction booklet. WOOPS. Since two of the three major sprues are common to the FJ-2 and FJ-3 kits, the majority of the instructions are also, so are there other common errors? Sabrejet, a renowned expert on Sabres and Furies, pointed out the following on his FJ-2 build here : I was just looking at drop tanks and noticed that the holes for the pylons were in the wrong place. Another great modeler, Gary Wickham, posted an excellent FJ-2 build log on his website. His fix for the missing tank pylon mounting holes is about mid way down on his log. The FJ-3 instructions show the tanks in the correct location (as opposed to the FJ-2 instructions), but the instructions don't show the mounting holes ... and they are not indicated on the wing plastic. The mounting holes on the FJ-3 kit's wings for the Sidewinder pylons (M model) and the AAR probe are also off the mark. And talk about Sidewinders, the instructions give no clue as to which model (FJ-3 or FJ-3M) the decals are for (VF-173 and VF-24 are M models). AND Of course the nose gear strut, as in the FJ-2 kit, is deflated. But enough for now ... the experts will chime in, I am sure, since this is bound to be a very popular kit. The builds by Sabrejet and Gary Wickham are well worth reading since the FJ-2 and FJ-3 have so much in common. Lastly, I think Hypersonic Jeffrey will likely have correction sets for the FJ-3 as he does for the FJ-2 .👍 Yes, I love the kit - have waited for it a loooong time! Sabrejet
I've just posted a quick review over on the Cold War board: It looks pretty much like an FJ-3 to me!
Homebee
Sources: https://www.facebook.com/hypersonicmodels/posts/4363691663716836 https://www.facebook.com/hypersonicmodels/posts/4365579406861395 Quote Ok folks, available in my shop now: The FJ-3 Fury Cockpit Update Set. The set contains an ejection seat that differs in a few details from the FJ-2 seat, a rear cockpit bulkhead and turtle deck, a detailed canopy deck and the -3 specific antenna array wich is a 3D printed part. The resin used for printing has a slight elasticity so there is a much reduced risk of breaking of those very thin and delicate details. https://www.hypersonicmodels.com/product/fj-3-fury-cockpit-update-set The FJ-3 Nose Correction is a simple like-for-like replacement for the kit nose part. In the same way as the FJ-2, the profile around the radome has been improved to better resemble the real thing. Also, the panel line and surface detail continues onto the inner intake side, unlike the kit part. This is not a full intake, you will still use the kit intake parts. The resin part is designed to match them. I found that the plastic parts of the fuselage halves seem to be tooled slightly asymmetric. There is a small step on the left side, but not on the right. It is the same when using the kit intake...You need to blend it with a little bit of sanding. https://www.hypersonicmodels.com/.../fj-3-fury-nose... https://www.hypersonicmodels.com/product/fj-3-fury-cockpit-update-set https://www.hypersonicmodels.com/product/fj-3-fury-nose-correction V.P. Scimitar F1
This is great to see. Now if only Jeffrey would do the slatted early version so I can build a swept wing GSB jet!

I think it may depend on the popularity of his other Fury products and if the kits are rereleased.

Sabrejet
Neither are exactly plentiful and until/unless someone picks up the moulds, it is a bit of a waste of an FJ-2 kit for the sake of a couple of wings.

I am as well since I had a damaged canopy in one kit. However it is an expensive conversion. If Jeffrey does do a slatted wing it would be much less expensive than trashing an entire kit.
