Its actually just a scarlet red from a cheap own brand rattle can I grabbed from Wilko 1 hour ago, rockpopandchips said: Looking very nice, I bet he is going to look totally amazing once you have worked you painting magic on him. Hunter Rose
Okay time for an update! I gave the red buckle detail a coat of clear red to make it nice and glossy and a different red to his costume. 20170725_132100 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then it was time to make a start on planning out the base, last time I did one of these Spiderman models as Spiderman 2099 I gave it a round base and thats my usual thinking, but for the sake of ease and mostly to be different I thought about a triangular one as it suits his pose better. So I measured the gaps between his feet and hands, did a rough triangle which I sat him on and roughed out the shape which I cut out in foamex board. 20170725_131342 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20170726_131308 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And then I made a start on shading the metalic bits, just use black smoke pigment for this, brushed into the gaps and then lightly blended towards the middle of each segment. 20170726_131632 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20170726_131953 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20170726_132512 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20170726_132526 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20170726_132723 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I did make a start on shading his body using graveyard dirt on the bits where I wanted to add shadow. 20170726_133625 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And I used a file to smooth over the edges and round the corners of my base. 20170726_134427 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then after I cut a mask for his chest logo at work, I stuck it on and built up the tape around it so no overspray goes anywhere, and carefully airbrushed some black over. 20170727_132102 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20170727_133116 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20170727_133434 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Was actually shocked how well it came out as it doesn't look it but it was a nightmare trying to get the sticky vinyl mask in position! Then I put down some more pigments, this time swithching to old rust as I thought it was bit more subtle and loooked better on the red. 20170727_134548 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20170727_134600 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20170727_134624 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Right so he's nearly there, I have sprayed the base black now too, so today hopefully should just be a matter of fixing the pigments and getting him stuck on the base. So this will be the last update before it goes in the RFI section, but I'm going on holiday at the weekend for a week; so I may not get this posted till after that. Thanks for looking, more soon
S5 modeller
The shading you've added, Hunter, looks brilliant. The base shape is great too, certainly fits with the dynamic pose of the figure. Nice work on the chest logo, worked out exceptionally well, I think. Matt
