capri-schorsch
Hi,yesterday i started with my first MFH kit. I got these kits a long time at home now,but feared to start with it. Yesterday i tackled it and open the box. There are lots of whitemetal parts who have to sorted first. I sorted it to follow step after step the instructions.Enough reference material is here,so get it on. The next step will be to sand the metal parts and put all into my magnetic tumbler which i bought three years ago and never used so far. Its all new for me,so please be patience with me. shood23
It nice to see you making a ready made kit again Christian instead of one of you scratch built cars, even though they turn out to be just as good a most manufacturers kits anyway. Great subsist by the way also and my god that's a lot of books for reference. I look forward to seeing this monster come together. Shaun
larchiefeng
I'm going to be watching this build closely. I also have this kit and the MFH Ferrari 330P both in 1/12 scale. I figure that, by the time I finish the Ferrari with the Autograph transkit I should be ready for more white metal. Nice reference library too!
capri-schorsch
Hi ,first run was positive. The polisher worked very well.I cleaned the pins first and than i started with the first bunch of parts. Parts before polishing and the result after it.The parts are not the best to show the effect, but it is there. Only problem was the small pins stud inti the cooling structure on the cylinder. But with some patience i could remove all of them. So i have to make parts after parts ready for completion. regards Christian
Borez
I need me one of those magnetic polishers for sure. Do all of those pins come with the 1/12th MFH, and if so what are they all for? I'll definitely be following this build though
capri-schorsch
Hi Borez, no those pins are for the magnetic polisher. These tiny things polish the metal parts into the soap. They are not from MFH. They are bought with the polisher. Some more tiny parts are done. Works well for me and all fine details are still there. regards Christian
Schwarz-Brot
Miniature painters sometimes polish their (white metal...) soldiers with a Dremel and brass brushes like this: gives a very shiny surface without destroying detail. Maybe worth a try before buying a tumbler. Though it seems to work really well.

Those parts look great, super clean. I'm just about to polish the brake discs on my kit, I could really do with one of those right now.

capri-schorsch
Should work well on bigger parts for sure. But the tiny little parts that cant be hold in your hand will be not. Thats way easier than by hand.Put it into the tumbler, start it and make other stuff in meanwhile.
Schwarz-Brot
Yeah, you're right Christian. Pretty fiddly with super small parts. Those are usually first glued when painting miniatures. @Borez, please do a test first on a piece that's not important at all! I am not exactly sure (but confident) the white metal MFH uses is the same as miniature makers use. The brass brush is probably not going to work on PE parts. Sabrejet
Many thanks anyway: the DTM M3 must be taking a lot of your time but equally I cannot get enough of these MFH epics! (I have just ordered my own MFH kit - the 1/43 Alfa TZ2)
colin
Anyone know the benifits of the various tumbles ie Magnetic/vibration/roller or which to avoid, guess the tumbler one could damage small parts Edit: found this on you tube which
