Rafale C 1/48

Recommended Posts

Hello,

This is the beautiful Revell Rafale M converted into a Rafale C. There are many details to modify but the most important is the landing gear.

Excellent model. My compliments.

This is what the Dutch Air Force should have bought. I know, fourth generation aircraft.

But, nevertheless it would have done the job. Lots of space for more intricate modifications in near future.

But no, it had to be the never ending (financial) story of the JSF. So enormous expensive, that only 37 can be acquired.

From hundreds of fighters to 37. I wonder how many are operational on any given day.

Time will tell Regards,

Orion / The Netherlands.

What a cracking model you built!!!

Can you please explain what exately has to be modified to get a desent Rafale C out of the M version from Revell?

I don't know the Rafale in details and what therefore learn from your knowledge.

Sure!

  • First of  all the landing gear. The forward gear is  totally different (bay, doors), you have to scratch it or grab one from the Rafale B kit. The main gear is also different, I modified the M one.

C:

  • Wheels are after-market items.

  • Doors after-market too

  • The hook has to be replaced as well.
  • Remove a small antenna located on the top of the vertical stabilizer.
  • Mind the aicraft profile on the ground, the M has a nose high attitude, the C is rather neutral.

Nothing too difficult

Thanks for your support and the great and clear pictures.

I have seen a conversion from Musthave for the Rafale C. Is it worth collecting?

Thanks again, I very much appreciate all your comments.

Of course with the MustHave kit it would be much easier if you are lucky enough to collect one.

  • 2 weeks later...

Great build.

Maybe it's because of having a name like 'Paquette' that influences my opinion but the French make the sexiest looking fighter jets in the world.

Thanks for these clear photos of the main landing gear!

It does seem that the naval one is not only sturdier, but also shorter...the cylinder between lower scissors link and the "locking" link is hardly present on the M...

What do you think?
