Davek72
To join the Cuban Mig-21s we already have in this GB I am going to add a Cuban Mig-23. I have had this KP kit in the stash for sometime and now seems like the right time to break it out. I understand this is a reboxing of the RV kits. I certainly hope so as I have ordered a Res-IM resin cockpit which I hope will fit. A few shots of the box and spures will follow shortly when Photobucket starts behaving. Davek72
Hurrah finally managed to make Photobucket work...it really is a pain of a service. Anyway here's the box. The instructions with a nice profile picture of the Cuban colour scheme. The spures, two hard grey plastic and one small clear. Thank you for looking. Dazzio
I'll be following this one with interest. Always had a weird fascination with the Flogger. Never knew that Cuba had them though. Kind Regards, Dazz Edited April 29, 2017 by Dazzio

Apparently Cuba still has 24 Mig-23s in service. Dave Edited April 29, 2017 by Davek72
Jabba
Certainly a different colour scheme. Will follow with interest.
Davek72
Cheers Jabba. I have made a few initial cuts and compared with the Airfix/Eduard kits I have been building recently this one is certainly made out of fairly hard plastic...should make life interesting. Basilisk
Nice choice Dave and a worthy companion to the Cuban MiG-21s, but more important, the first MiG-23 in the GB Cheers, Peter

Davek72
Usual story, work goes mad and the next thing you know its a month since the last post. Doh. I have however manger a couple of hours in the last month. Whilst there is a locating pin for the wings nothing is very tight and so a bit of glue and some bits of spurs were required to get everything to sit neatly and at the right angle. The butchery at the front edges was required to get the top of the fuselage to close over the wings. A little filler was required at under the tail and at the fuselage joins. More to follow shortly. Davek72
I purchased the RES-IM cockpit for the Mig-23. This is the first resin aftermarket I have ever bought. It looked like this to start with. More photos to follow shortly. Dave Edited July 9, 2017 by Davek72

Davek72
OK so I have managed to make a bit of progress and have also had to learn how to use a new photo hosting service. This is what the cockpit looks like now. I am quite pleased with my first attempt at a resin cockpit. Davek72
I have made a bit of progress due to a slightly quieter week at work. The cockpit requires that you do quite a bit of butchery to the existing plastic (and lots of test fitting as there are no natural cut lines). But the end result (in my case) looks like this... Synopsis
Looks good so far, resin extras are always fun, well apart from the dust. Look forward to seeing it progress!

Davek72
So everything has come together quite nicely with just a small amount of filler around the wing roots etc. Unfortunately I forgot to talk any photos. Sorry. I decided to brush paint this one as I am having a few problems with my airbrush. I followed the Humbrol paint codes in the kit converted to my usual Vallejo and ended up with this. At this point I started looking at a few photos of real Cuban migs (I know somewhat too late). My conclusion is that although the blue colour on Cuban migs varies massively none of them look particularly like the blue I have applied....doh. i am therefore going to ditch the recommended colour references and go for something that looks right... More to follow. Dave
Jabba
Coming along a treat, and as others have already said, nice work with the cockpit, especially as it is your first time with resin.

Davek72
So here is my revised colour scheme...the painting is not finished as you can see the exhaust needs to be redone but it gives you an idea of the garishness of the colours.
