Hi Ian,

I had a quick look on Hiroboy and found this:

http://www.hiroboy.com/124_C1_Porsche_Boxster_Spyder_Resin_Transkit_Fujimi--product--9839.html

The wheels in the trans-kit seem to look the same using the ole mk1 eyeball...

However at 49 quid, I don't expect that you want to invest in all of that just for a set of wheels...

Cheers, Alan.

Nice find but your right that's a lot of money for wheels. However I have just sent them an email to see if they can get the company to sell just the wheels?

thanks Alan

DECALS

Hi Guys, just a quick update.

yesterday I put the decals on the Porsche

33566932124_499b98997b_b.jpg

I'm not going to cover much of this as I'm sure you all know how to put these on, as you can see there is a lot of decals to put on

I left the decals to dry over night then off to the spray booth for the last two coats of clear.

Clear Coat

so last coats of clear.

the clear I am using is the zeropaints clearcoat Lacquer

I have sprayed this over my 1/12 Porsche GT and it looks fab.

With regards to the  2 pack gloss, I don't like the idea of putting an epoxy paint through my gun.

I have been told the only difference is that the 2 pack gives a wetter look.

So ok just build up some coats of the normal clear and give it a good polish.

so with out any a do here she is

33622564033_9b65080057_b.jpg

34391162956_179765c871_b.jpg

33622598413_d42f98dab2_b.jpg

This last shot is to show you the bonnet/boot line,

as you can see by scribing the line to make it nice and neat, it will reward you in the end.

there is a knack to spraying this stuff and you can get a glass like finish or close to/ without needing to polish it.

I have a couple of marks here and there so I shall put her in the airing cupboard for the min of 48 hours.

by for now

Clear parts

While we are waiting for the body to dry, I thought I would crack on and do all the clear parts.

because my Porsche was the facelift version their was a lot of differences.

the front bumper as I have covered at the start of this thread, the interior was different, and the engine and the lights.

so I have done the front bumper

cant do anything on the interior

the engine they changed the size from a 2 to a 2.5

the lights are as follows

Front lights

33600833834_657abee65c_b.jpg

There was little difference on these, I have put a very thin coat of orange clear hopefully it will be just enough.

34401406966_4abdc36019_b.jpg

Side indicators on the old model was orange, but the new face lift it was clear.

34401394916_38c96bc5ee_b.jpg

big changes on the rear lights as the top was orange but I have left mine clear to match my car .

34058192310_1887b2c75a_b.jpg

so we have the following

one bottle of floor care

front lights

rear lights

side lights

one wind deflector

side indicators

front windscreen

all of this will be dipped into the floor care to give a nice finish and it also helps to prevent fogging if you use supperglue

Can I give a big thanks to Alan who has pointed me in the direction on finding me some wheels that are very similar to the ones that I had on my car.

They are made by C1 Models.

http://www.hiroboy.com/124_C1_Porsche_Boxster_Spyder_Resin_Transkit_Fujimi--product--9839.html

My thanks also to C1 Models as they sold me the wheels separately

as soon as they arrive I will post some photos for you guys.

I am really pleased that you could get the right wheels from C1 models. I'm sure that they will look great on the model.

All the best, Alan.

Polish TIme

34406676461_1df39e5844_b.jpg

Now the clear is dry I have gone over the car with the Flory models sanding stick

you will get a nice haze all over the nice shiny paint work and make all dull,

this will get rid of all the hi points on the clear paint and remove all the orange peal effect.

also saves on the elbow grease to get a nice glass like finish.

then with the white side of the stick, you can buff up the paint to a nice level and then polish.

I use the novus stuff that works very well,

then you should get something shiny like this.

34406687211_a42e780fa8_b.jpg

and this.

Black Trim

now all the bodywork has been done, all is left is the black trim around the front windscreen and the side windows on the door and the rear of the cover where the soft top goes

34496335346_57d8fc0253_b.jpg

34496343806_4067dba937_b.jpg

I will leave this to dry and then put in the front windscreen.

Lights

So I'm having some problems with the lights on this model.

mainly the indicators.

on the early Boxster the early indicators looked like this.

 98_main_f.jpg

but my Boxster looks like this

33492832544_764e6345d8_b.jpg

so I have been trying a few options.

33696001544_551e099e24_b.jpg

Firstly I was going to leave out the yellow?

but I thought it still needed something there???

34377816552_68e0900555_b.jpg

so in stead of applying the yellow to the lends I would add it to the silver on the housing and it looks a little better.

33696277484_5364328aa3_b.jpg

not brilliant but I guess it will have to do.

33728381843_ca1c1809d0_b.jpg

34539002645_21a8c43ec0_b.jpg

then I have painted some chrome to the back where the lights lends will be fitted.

finished side lights,

for this I have painted a dot of orange clear for the bulb.

34378533122_7e5f4d039c_b.jpg

So not much to do.

Front windscreen

front windscreen wipers

attach body to car

attach wind break in-between the seats.

Front windscreen

34396271982_1d977da719_b.jpg

34557522575_5ba7f6571c_b.jpg

Wheels

I wasn't  going to do much talking about the wheels I was just going to show you some photos of the finished car, but I have had to mod these wheels so I thought I would share this info just in

case anyone else wanted to do the same thing.

So there are the wheels from C1 models.

33775308704_04678f0e37_b.jpg

33775311534_2641c58ea9_b.jpg

They are very nice but the inside needs to be adjusted to fit the Tamiya kit.

33808402333_70433fc216_b.jpg

The Tamiya stock kit has a nice rod inside that you slide into the centre of the break disc.

Step 1

34232244850_5eee10bd78_b.jpg

I have sanded the boss down as far as I dare then I have drilled a 2mm whole just enough to glue a pin in place and give it some support.

Step 2

33808420613_1c6030cff4_b.jpg

I have taken out the pin from the stock Tamiya wheels and then glued it in place in the new resin wheel.

perfect fit, a little dob of glue and jobs a good'en

next step a wash in soapy water and then some primer and paint.

fingers crossed this should be all finished tomorrow?

Hi Ian,

That is really good!

It's really nice to have a replica of your own car!

I'm not sure that there is a 1:24th scale 2012 Focus Diesel estate model... :(

Cheers, Alan.

Well sorry to say I got rid of this car years ago. :crying:

Hi Ian,

Sad news indeed.

There are always cars that we regretted getting rid of. I regretted selling my Alfasud and wished I had kept it much longer.

I had a real soft spot for my Fiesta XR2 Mk2, and recently I was sad to sell my '03 plate SAAB 9-3. Mechanically still sweet after 202,000 miles, but the electronics ...

Cheers, Alan.

Roof

sorry guys o forgotten to post some images of the hood,

all this is, is black primer and a very fine dust coat as I wanted to try and produce a ruff finish like the cloth that is used on the real car.

So final shoots of the finished model.
