Al's figures are beautiful but as Philp says, some less casual poses would come in handy, particularly to replaced the RAF crews of Airfix's ASRL...can't have everything. Mind you, I think I'm going to have to dredge up my latent sculpture skills for crew on my fishing boat/yacht. I've got so much lined up Anyways.......I spent the W/E in Liverpool and visited the Liverpool Maritime Museum. Like so many museum's nowadays, style tends to triumph over substance. I thought there'd be a lot more on Corvettes etc. I didn't manage to make it to the Liverpool War Museum: Western Approaches which might have been more productive. However I did stumble across this ..... A Mackworth Fog Buoy used by convoys in the N Atlantic - this demonstrates how... It was towed whilst in fog and through up a water spout as a visible indicator for ships following. How Cool is that!! So naturally , with fog as a potential hazard for D-day, ML 196 had one And a spare for HMS Mignon whenever that comes about. So what with Liverpool and multiple rugby games to follow - progress has not been exactly rapid... The radar mast stays are fitted and I experimented with the ensign using 02.mm nickel rod - the thinnest I had (Need to get some 0.1mm) which was curved to emulate a halyard. It kind of works With the superstructure now stuck down to the deck and the stays in place I can now get on with the stanchions Thanks as ever for looking in and the encouragement!! The Denton rafts were weathered with Grey wash and tied with twine - also weathered with grey wash And then it was onto final assembly placing all the detail pieces, rafts, cheeses etc before I painted the stanchions and began the work of "rigging" them I've used thread throughout here -(unlike lead wire) and have stained it with 50:50 neutral Grey Mig Wash and white spirit. I get it to sit on the deck by "flooding" with AK Ultra matte varnish And here's the Mackworth buoy sitting happily... The weapons are finally assembled and weathered.. and finally the very last bit to be added is the frontey pointy bit (left till last as otherwise it would have got knocked and broken). With this in place and painted I can get on with the Guardrail wire rigging. Finishing line now well and truly in sight - so I should get in under the 2 year build time...
