Airfix 1/48 Hurricane Mk.1

Recommended Posts

Finished a while back.

New tool Airfix kit that is pretty good to put together, only a few small thi ha that I reckon were more my doing than the kit. Built OOB with the exception of the Iliad decals and an Eduard etch seatbelt.

Enjoy!

Lovely job! I'm just completing this model along with an Italeri Hurricane. As you said, it's a good kit – miles better than the Italeri offering.

You've done an excellent job on the singe colour paint scheme, but like Dave, I'd like to know why it's red?

CrikeyI  ...nice build/finish- what's the story with the scheme?

Radar calibration,  not red, but probably an early type of Dayglo

it all stems from this in the Hurricane I profile booklet from the mid 60;s

Hawker%20Hurricane%20I%20(111)_Page_11-9

Only problem is no one has ever seen the photo(s) this was based on.

how come you used the De Havilland prop, the profile FWIW does state Rotol, which would have been the factory fit by the serial.

Interesting build, well executed though.

cheers

Thanks guys,

Troy, the prop looked the right one from the Iliad decals so went with it, and I did find a pic on the net I recall of the aircraft in this scheme, will go searching again soon.
