Here is my entry for this GB. It is a F-111E that was used in the Gulf war of 1991, it was the only aircraft of this type to be painted in this grey scheme and the only AMP aircraft. The kit is the Hasegawa one and the decals are by Wolfpak Decals.

Build thread is here.

So folks finally finished after making rapid progress at the start struggled to find time to get things done in the last few weeks and I'm happy to get it finished. I added scratch built FOD guards to the intakes and exhausts and the corrected Squadron vac formed canopy. Decals are the Afterburner set and the GBU24's are from the Hasegawa set. Paints for the main camo are Mr Hobby and I used Alclads black primer for the underside.

Here's the old Airfix F-111E, dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st Century.

Decals are mostly home made apart from the insignia. The reference photo I have shows no sign of the in-flight refuelling markings, so I didn't do any. Paint is Humbrol 116, 117 and 118. I rather over-weathered too, and there are some strange effects from badly-brushed matt varnish, which I have since cured with another coat in the affected areas.

And less swept:

Thanks for an enjoyable group build that challenged me to leave my comfort zone!

Thanks for looking,

Adrian
