Thought I might share a few pictures with you all.

Looking up into the 'bomb bay' of Duxfords F-111E. Surprisingly clean and uncluttered.

Random Googling brought up an old BM RFI thread which had this link which may be useful for anyone building an Australian version: http://www.adf-serials.com.au/3a8.htm

The whole thread is here - there are a couple of easy changes noted to improve the kit from the box: F-111C

OK chaps, enlighten me- I saw the 1/48 OzMods F-111G/FB-111 "conversion" set, which seems to be pylons and a thingie.  What's it all about?

EDIT: Yes, different pylons for the FB-111, and the mysterious thingie is the different tail fairing/ fuel dump, which I didn't recognize at first.  Got one ordered!

Thanks to a thread on Zone Five, Here's the first of a series of articles about F-111 details on Hyperscale (replace the '1' near the end of the web address with a '2' etc until you run out of installments)  First part is about intakes, which is bound to be of help to someone.

To make it easier: (click on each "Part")

Part 1: Intakes

Part 2: Nozzles

Part 3: Wings

Part 4: Landing Gear

Part 5: Antennae

Part 6: Cockpits

Part 7: Weapons Bay

Part 8: Weapons Loads

Part 9: ECM Pods

I made a visit to the Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton Ohio and few years ago and took quite a few photos of their F-111F.

You can find them here: http://s191.photobucket.com/user/markturk/library/Aircraft/F-111F Miss Liberty II

For the full museum tour, look here: http://s191.photobucket.com/user/markturk/library/Aircraft/USAF Museum

A very nice rendition of a pretty "challenging" kit. Thanks for sharing with us.

I don't know how true it is, but I read that when the Aussies retired all their F-111's, they were all ripped apart and the bits were buried in landfill. This was supposedly a measure against any American enemies stealing tech from the airframes. Not one was sent to a museum - a genuine shame, IMHO

Cheers.

Hi,

I’m happy to say that is definitely not the case. At least two survive, one at the South Australian Aviation museum at Port Adelaide and another at Point Cook (IIRC). There may be others but I know there are at least two.
