Once upon a time, I started it, 1/25 Chevy

Recommended Posts

Hello Dears,

A little improvement today, pain was really boring and I can't stand for a long time in the same posture !!

I must move a bit, the end of tunnel is near now !!

So, I placed some supports for the brake lines, I did it the best I could remember ...

The rest is purely logical...

WP_20181215_22_43_52_Pro

Ans yes, I'll fill these holes in the spring blades !!

Have a great modelling time !

Sincerely.

Wowza this has been going on a looooong time. 😱 but I know you have about a Zillion other builds happening all at the same time. 😉

Great to see you have a Fury Kit too. I’m reading “Christine” at the moment.

Great work on the engine I think I’ll do a similar thing on the Torino.

I’ll tag along for the long haul.

Johnny.

Hello Dear Spad,

Look, I tear off the original chrome, clearly it's really shiny… BUT...

Lots of chromed part are not chrome at all...

Who can spend time and money for having a chromed rear axle ????

Then if you have to sand a bit ??? That super bright chrome is gone and I'll be glad to see how one can remake it...

With a reasonably good match Indeed !!

I search now for a second "Christine" One super nice with the rendez vous scratched on the Hood...

And the other one as she stand in the garden at the beginning of the movie...

Then I also have an Eldie 59...

Thank for the kind words !!

Sincerely.

Here's the Reason for tearing the original chrome off

There was big flashes on the bumper...

WP_20190228_22_37_24_Pro

And then… I started Something new for me ...

WP_20190228_22_19_14_Pro

The last car I did… It was in Africa in 1982 or 83, with an hairy stick !!

I get you about the problems with chrome bits. Not sure if I will have those problems with the Torino. We shall see.😎 great idea about the two states of Christine. The garden one will be amazing. I need to do something like that myself.

Wonderful on the chrome stripping. Looks great and as you say "who can afford to have that much chromed on the real thing". Certainly not me. I do have to purchase a front and rear bumper because the one on my 1 to 1 57 sedan was rusted completely through. I also have to purchase the grill parking light bar and chevy emblem. So!!! As for the date you started this kit have you beat by nearly 10 more years. Started this MPC kit a few months before I left RAF Lakenheath in January 1980. I have 5 more of these kits and guessing 15 more of the Revell and Monogram also AMT kits.

IMG_2415

My youngest daughter bought me the AMT Pepper Shaker for Christmas. This one makes number 4.

IMG_2414

I'll have to do the same with all the chrome parts and your coming along quite nicely. One of these days I'll get back to the hmmm 10 or so cars and trucks I have started. I came to a stand still because of all the chrome parts. I have used brake fluid in the past. Worked great as long as you remembered it was in the fluid and did not begin to melt.

Watching with interest and you tugged on my heart strings with the 57!

CC,

If I dare look and count the started kits from cars to space and everything in-between I may have up to 50. That's just a drop compared to the kits I've purchased from the late sixties to now. In the last 10 years I've bought out 2 estate sales. One was from a friend of mine that pretty much lost his eye sight and one eye from cancer. No idea how many unbuilt kits I have.

Your paint come out great. Looking forward to the completed build.

Hello Dears,

Beside a shaky Week end, I'm back now to my evening work Week,

But yesterday, I worked a bit on my kits !!

The second shade of blue has been applied !

WP_20190311_22_56_08_ProWP_20190311_22_56_17_Pro

some basis colors has been applied here too

WP_20190311_22_56_30_Pro

Then, I will recreate more realistic handles and cranks and start painting a bit of details !!

Then I'll spend some times on this !

WP_20190311_23_02_06_Pro

Beside it, I've been at last allowed to keep my grand daughter in my arms !!

WP_20190310_16_03_24_Pro

She's out from the hospital as she now weight over 6 lbs !!

Lord, what a nice little piece of a baby,  and she's very active !!

Already a Rock'n Roll baby !!

Have agreat modelling time !!

Sincerely.

Hello Dears,

Some news from the road side !!

Flashes ?? Who said flashes ???

WP_20190315_21_23_44_Pro

This steering whell will be fun to clean up !!

WP_20190315_21_23_52_Pro

Now, I'm also glad about my own choice of paints !!

I saw one on the web, a bit different of the mainstream cherry red '57 Chevy !

I picked up the paint with the help of Mr Eyeball Mk I

WP_20190315_23_52_16_Pro

And here's the difference with the door handles !!

WP_20190315_23_47_42_Pro

I think that this one will make it to the RFI in 2019 too !!

Now Gents and Ladies, (if any) let me show you the last drwing of my daughter !!

54228784_2044737422310186_4991310373765251072_n

Now she has to start more realistic Drawings !! She choose a Vidgame character !

Mr Duthch Van Der Lind in Red Dead redemption !

Here's the original character

53248399_2044737468976848_1757909103272787968_o

I think that she choose her Professional path with some reasons !!

Okay Dears !! Have a great Week end !!

And a Pleasant modelling time !!

I go to fix 1/1 cars on the roaside now 😰

Sincerely.

Hello Dears,

It's been a while...

But I never let a kit down... More than ... Let's say.... 36 years...:rofl2::rofl2:

Here, it's a mere 7 months...

So, Should I be glad enough with such a door handle ???

IMG_20200104_215214

Obviously not !!

So, I fashioned more conform ones...

IMG_20200104_215233

Bits of plasticard... Never throw nothing...

And then, here we are !! more realistic !! Is'nt it ??

IMG_20200104_230037

phase II

The windows cranks...

At least, I prepare it !

IMG_20200105_000205

Cut 4 little bits from an Albion alloy pipe..

Then the unlocking for the door and the 2 k,nobs supposedly for the rear view mirror or the deflector..

More to come soon...

Sooner I must say !! :crap:

Did'nt say it in this part of the forum !!

Happy new year to you all !! A great health, money and more money !! And plastic kits !!

Sincerely.

CC,

Nice bit of craftsmanship in the area of arm rest and door handles. Every little bit helps. My better half tells me I'm a pack rat. On model stuff for sure. I save sprue trees for latter use. Especially the early Airfix trees. Cut down make wonderful chock for aircraft. Not much filing needed.

I too am one of those who like the oldies. I've had this car since 1970.

LtFrtQtrProject57

Drove it out of a farmers field and had set for 22 years because of my military career and set for another 18 until I had room enough for it here in New Mexico. Had worked on it a few time and did some test fits to see if what I liked and did not like. Here are a couple of those too.

Cragar Mag wheels

TestFitLtCragarMag

And then an engine fit test

100_4205

So as not to take away from your build, this could be a little inspiration to get crazy with your builds. I've enjoyed all the builds that I was a part of. So one of these days I'll get back into it hot and heavy both in my favorite scale and hope to get near finished with this one to one scale project. I'm getting near to finishing my work shop. Had many interruptions. Some good and some not so good.

But at any rate I'm still watching your progress on my favorite subject.

All The Best,

Ron VanDerwarker

Well Thank You. No bottle. I'm very old school. Believing that horsepower is achieved by the combination of parts and high octane fuel. I have somewhere in my parts and documents, there is a list of internal parts that combined with some machining ( some done Head porting) , piston boring, I should get in the neighborhood of 700HP. Or at least pretty darn close.

The street tunnel is an Eldebrock, carbs are an Eldebrock 650cfm(based of a Carter Carb). Time will only tell.

I know my model and diorama's will get done before my car. Watching your build and WOW what beautiful art work your daughter does. A new gramps on top of all that.

All The Best
