spitfire
A pretty unique individual, I don't think we will see a 2 wheel and 4 wheel world champion again RIP Dennis

picard
Damn it also, just heard the news, yet another great hero has left us, a true legend on two and four wheels, kudos Mr S, no one will achieve that one ever again, and a brilliant humble very nice gentleman to boot. Very sad news.
Beardie
Sad news indeed. It seems that the old guard are all shuffling off in rapid succession and there are very few who can replace them.
shood23
One of the best motor racing drivers to have lived based on what he and only he has archived. Shaun
Kiwidave4
Another rider/driver from an era so far removed from todays circus that there is simply no comparison. A sportsman, not an overpaid prima donna, who was not only quick, but knew how his machinery worked and could spanner with the best. What a great pity his son pre-deceased him which much have been devastating for John in his later years.

Jockster
Hailwood did the same because when his last team, Honda, pulled out of bike racing they paid him to not ride for another manufacturer so he switched to cars. If memory serves, he drove for Surtees at one point. Both of them deserve the status of Legends, perhaps they'll race amongst the stars together. Rest in peace Mr Surtees, you've earned it.

Mike never became a Champion on four wheels though, thats the sole domain of Surtees. Plenty of people have raced both two and four, Nuvolari, Taruffi, and Bob Anderson come to mind, but there are many more.
