D'ya think he'll notice?

Trevor

Not if he sees the living room or bathroom first...but he might notice Melissa removing the chocolate from Tony's grapes.....

I think it'll be okay if you cover it up with a few tea towels and make it look as though we've just done some washing up. Meanwhile I'll get the broom out and give the back room a bit of a sweep. Doesn't really need it, but think it'll be a nice gesture. Right, back to Brum with Bill...

Nurse, the screens!

I'm sorry but my eyes really are becoming deaf. I thought you meant screams.

Are Tony's 🍇 seedless?

Amyhoo, I've done the man cave chill out area

Not sure about the buttons on the cushions though. Are they a tad pretentious?

One two, two and a half, three, four FiIVE!

Nice chill area Trevor although you need to watch those buttons - they can pinch if you're not careful. And that cream sofa's going to, er, show the marks

Gah! I've run out of likes halfway through reading this you beautiful bunch of loonies!

Having read the last few pages I feel I know what the inside of Les Dawson's head must have been like now....

(Would that actually work as a seaside attraction? :hmmm:The Les Dawson's Head Experience -  just off Jnct.17 on the M5. Bring a goat! )

Now then.

Must be nearly a fortnight you've had the run of the place and I must say you've kept it remarkably clean

- of anything to do with modelling whatsoever.

In fact it's with some surprise that I recollect there was even an aircraft here at all at one stage. What was I doing with it again? Ah well, it'll come to me in time no doubt...

The hols were rather decent. The last week at Lyme Regis was like staying in Italy with Lyme Bay doing duty for the Bay of Naples - blazing sun all day and Mediterranean dusks looking across to Portland. The sky was quite busy also, I guess in the run up to Yeovilton. A mini formation of Tiger Moths passed over the beach one lunchtime - was there ever a more summery sound than such engines buzzing overhead in the heat? - and on the last afternoon a Chinook came belting along just offshore below the level of then house we were staying in, to be followed later by an Apache, the latter dawdling presumably to eye-up the talent on the beach...

Most people of course come back off holiday with a porcelain donkey for the mantlepiece or some drinks coasters. I'm pleased to say that that I returned with forceps.

If you're ever down Weymouth way I urge you to drop into a bookshop called Books Afloat a couple of streets in from the main shopping area. It's a dying breed of shop (regrettably) that is absolutely crammed with maritime and aviation stuff upstairs, from ships' telegraphs to old piles of wartime HMSO publications. I picked this lot up for a tenner:

35773229616_60f2a7bc75_c.jpg

Such wartime publications fascinate me, realizing that these were the materials that people of the time had access to rather than the subsequent benefits of hindsight and the internet. It's also surprising just how many images I've not seen reproduced elsewhere:

35773230416_d9d2125b88_c.jpg

35003940793_075f4525c4_z.jpg

I know you can find these on Eelbay but it doesn't match the thrill of pushing aside some cups and saucers off a postwar steamer to find a pile of these calling to you from underneath does it?

On the journey home to get the ferry we were escorted for a while up the M6 by not one but two chapters of Hell's Angels. Regret to say that the Steppenwolf Greatest Hits CD wasn't in the Skoda and besides, I havenae the hair for it these days...

It'll be a few days again before I find me feet and get back to the bench lads but it's nice to be back - I missed ya! :bear:

:bye:

Tony

Nah, they're just naturally slow, certainly can't keep up with a Wokka at full tilt!

Welcome back Tony, glad you had a good time - any costs for breakages or cleaning - see Perdu...!!

Funny thing is Yeovilton

No Tiggies

No magnificent Wokka neither, just quite a lot of Merthings and some Apaches

I'm uploading pics from there into postimage as we chunter

Re: the holiday

Glad you had a good Dorset, possibly the finest piece of non-Devonian real estate there is

I love the place, from Devon to Chesil its amazing

Now as to the damage

I know we shouldn't have let him bring the goat but he did have some excellent cheeses when he crashed the gate

There is still some in the fridge behind the fridge, one or t'other

I kept tally of the breakages, yes Keith, even that chandelier you thought we were not going to notice

I think Trev has the final list but I know I owe you a bit

Buy you a pint next time you come to Brum, we'll get Tommo into one of his ethnic locals in Moseley

That'll learn him

Oh ahh

Welcome home, homie

Yes I have edited it to read what actually happened

damned persecutative text

Glad you enjoyed the hollibops and that's a fine haul of reading material.

As Perdu said, I have a list of *damaged* goods. In no particular order

The chandelier - fixed (sort of if the PVA holds)

The Starfix collection - untouched except for all the scorn spilled over it

The coal fired stairlift - much improved since we found some smokeless fuel

The 'My Little Pony' duvet set in the master bedroom - we hope you like the HP Sauce pattern. A lot of thought went into that.

Complete set of Des O' Connor LP's - now on eBay

There's now a genuine Banksy in the squash court

Blodwen the cat's missing but there is now a gekko called Brian living in the budgie cage we found in the garage.

Pete tried scrubbing the heliotrope paint off the bathroom suite - it's now more of a delicate pink. His hands are raw from scrubbing with Vim.

Soz

Glad to have you back, Sir!

Nice haul of books you have there.

Apologies for the over exuberance in your domicile.

But, Damn! it was fun at the time.

Pete. Having to type using his toes.

(Send the plumbing bill to my solicitors).

BTW, had Goat curry for tea, lots left. Anyone?

I didn't check the running order as we weren't going this year Bill...it's not a Yeovilton imho unless there's a Swordfish and a Sea Hurri....

I commend your honesty Trevor! :D

As to the D. O'C collection, I was thinking of offering them in part exchange for a Plastic Bertrand EP anyways...

I didn't own a cat....

 Fret not - thou art only youthful once young Pete. If you were able to survive TonyTiger's jokes it was surely a test of manhood. I s'pose you know the one about a man with a rabbit down his trousers...

..called Warren.

Nice to have you back Tony. Dorset is a lovely part of the world, I often go camping next to West Bay just outside of Bridport - stunning. Although I must admit I have more of a soft spot for East Dorset, Purbeck, Kimmeridge and Lulworth.

Oh yeah the damage...hope you don't mind a few broken cups...not too bad though...you know wot I mean....the beer made me do it...erm as Bill said I'll buy you a curry if ever you visit Brum...gotta go mate tarra a bit...

Oh and a nice little something from my visit to Yeovilton:

The cat must have belonged to the neighbours. Please pass on my apologies or condolences depending on whether it's breathing or not.

As to the man with trousers called Warren, what are his other pairs called?

Oh yes, wasn't there a model around here somewhere?

Ah, I remember now. There was a competition.

Guess how many Oxo cubes we can fit into it.

Not sure who won that one. Or how many cubes either.
