krow113
Thanks for looking in. Final prep on the fuel tanks was to drill for the fuel feed: Wanted that done as flipping the wing for rigging prep is long over due: The wing , although more stable and robust than you would imagine , is stabilized for the eyelet installation onslaught looming ahead. I'll do the rigging connections as well . Working info suggests that WW! German aircraft had turnbuckles on the lower connections for the most part. Ref pics also confirm that info.

krow113
Thanks HDawg. Â Â Ref pics show the bombs in no pristine order. Bombs would not be sanded and primed and 3 coated in my opinion. A coat of paint to prevent oxidation with no frills. Manhandled onto and off of carts , cables and mounts being attached , etc. 'Weathered' may not be the best description , as weathering suggests extended exposure to the elements... Thanks for commenting. Â The tidy little rack gets some p/e and eyelet detail :

I'm always surprised how scuffed up bombs look - you would think people would be more careful! But there again they are single use and relatively inert until the detonators get added. Â Bomb racks are looking fabulous. I'm sure I've built whole aeroplanes with fewer parts and less detail. Â Regards, Adrian

krow113
Took me literally years to figure out how the bomb release mech worked. Finally sorted it today , I think. Lots of pics to stare at , finally seeing that the lever shaped part to the left of the rack is the actuation lever. In the bomb loaded position it should be to the right of the tube right beside it. You can see clearly in pics the slug in the tube. When the commander toggles the release lever in the front cockpit , the slug retracts into the tube and the lever rotates counter-clockwise and the hook at the bottom releases the bomb sling end. The key to this was observing that the opposite tube is hollow ; no slug.. WNW has molded their parts in the released position , easily confirmed by pics in the instructions , Gotha! and RR's book. krow113
Thanks fpr looking in. Deathhead work begins. A very complicated set of masks , I'm setting procedure as I go. Wheeled off the outer mask , mostly to check if its centered and it is: A very good and encouraging start. I'll go ahead with this. Â Got this far and I'm happy with the lines, they look like the photo. Edited December 30, 2020 by krow113

krow113
Thanks for looking in. I cant go any farther with the AB . Jaw shape looks a lot better and it looks more in line with the pic: It would be silly to try and make the dhead exactly like the pic, pretty much impossible anyway , so I'll get it as close as possible. My Sotar went down to 3.5 lbs pressure , clogging almost immediatley but soldiered through the minute color applications. The masks worked splendidly , easily modified , easily stretched into shape removed and replaced numerous times. Next will be the use of the brush with the single hair! No brush like that will work. I used watercolor pencils to out line and drybrushed some texture on the work: This is prolly the best I can do with it.
