And is the skull and crossbones a zap?

I guess. Be interesting to know for sure.

This picture is bothering me...

It'll take more than a wash to get this effect!

It's a hobby. Relax and enjoy. Looks good already. Whatever you do will enhance it no matter ;)

Every single one of those stencils and the work you put in to apply the is worth it for the final result ;)

As for the photo, looks to me like it was taken just after dawn on a cold morning and the dew is highlighting a lot of interesting airframe details that otherwise wouldn't be noticable.

Thanks chaps for the kind words & encouragement!

I think once it is given a flory dark dirt wash and matted down further it will be good.  The silver rivet detail could be some with a prisma pencil, may be worth doing around one or 2 regularly opened panels only.

Interestingly I notice there is a wrap around of Dark Sea Grey on the intake over the Light Aircraft Grey, Never noticed that before.

Will have to have a dig through pictures and see where it terminates, or if indeed it was a variable between airframes.

A little progress while I've been away.

I now have a ladder & some intake blanks. :-)

Really low tech I'm afraid. The Eduard stuff I manage with tweezers to get a straight edge.

Flightpath is much thicker so the needle nose pliers work well.

Super glue seems to do the trick. The hand rail on the ladder is from a paper clip.

I may fill in that application.

They would be obliged to restore a Phantom to flying condition & re-instate RAF Brüggen or settle out of court for false advertising.

On the other hand £3000 a year isn't much.

Nice work. Neither are easy but both nice when done.

Are the FOD covers correct for a Spey lump?

I am reluctantly and with a heavy heart going to have to withdraw from this Group Build.

I was supposed to be home today, but due to a bereavement in my opposite number's family I am now going to be onboard until the 21st June, covering his 3 week trip then doing my own.

So no chance whatsoever of finishing this as it is hundereds of miles away.

I do have the consolation that I'll get 6 weeks pay for the extra 3 weeks away, which will bump the piggy bank up.

I'll transfer this to WiP once I get home.

Sad news all round. Little glory for my potential race win there.

Maybe I could sell you another FGR though....? ;)

Sorry to hear about this situation and hope the extra 3 weeks pass smoothly for you.

Please keep us updated with this one when you do get back to it.

Good news!

I have a week's reprive.  Another Captain in the company is covering me for a week, so I am home now until Wednesday.

I will try & crack on & finish this now.

I've been busy.

Given it a Flory Dark Dirt wash, some minor oil staining with Tamiya smoke and some oil wash made of Humbrol Dark Sea Grey 164 enamel and thinners.

Weapons fitted, pylons not weathered with the airframe as they would have been swapped about.

Seats fitted, FOD covers fitted.

Happy so far.

Pylons need cleaning up a bit.

Fitted all three rocket pods but using the US type TER and the Matra pods left the wheels unable to touch the ground. So the lower pods got removed.

Still have to clean this area up.

Quick question...

I have lost the Port side upper fuselage Auxilliary intake door.

I could probably scratch one but if anyone has a spare I'd appreciate it before I go and raid an untouched Kit for one.

Thanks.

Loving the look of the BL755s in particular on a Phantom. I may have to build one with a full load of em... one day.

Looks very well and good to see you could get on with it in the end.

No spare Aux door in my stash, sorry.
