The other Tim's 1/48 Academy F16C - A16 CAS Viper

Have to say the kit is a pig of a build, but hey there you go, its all about the paint job for this one!

Got the primer on. Not going for the black basing or any type of pre-shade as the paint job was relatively short lived. May do a bit of post shading in a lighter version of each cover then blend.

First paint on, the lighter green, FS34102. This also goes on all rails, tanks, sidewinders and the Pave Penny pod.

The painting instructions are a bit hard to fathom, the upper and lower patterns do not seem to match the sides if you know what I mean! Doing option 2. Bit of artistic licence and using the few references available.

Mask up and grey on next!

Some Mr Paint-241 Dark Gunship Grey FS36081 on....more masking required.

After all the painstaking masking I decided to tear it all off to freehand, using the picture references rather than the decal ones that seemed confusing regarding the cam pattern!

I have also got 2 coats of gloss on ready for decals.

As someone famously said on this site 'nothing beats a camo wrap'!

She looks great Tim, and you're definitely right with regards to the "wrap around" scheme! I have found quite a few times with different schemes that the side view don't match up with the upper (or undersides) side. You really have to take some artistic license unless you have good reference photos.

arrr that's a shame, this was another build I was looking forward to seeing finish.

I sucks being away form home and watching all the other builds. I'm not even halfway through my first week of 8+ weeks!! Have worked out I don't really like Kimchi!!

Fraid Im not gonna make it with this one...have the latest pics, but there seems to be some issue with Photo Bucket? Anyone having it? None of my pics are showing....logs in fine but shows folders empty....

That's a shame, just post them when you can. Photo Buckets does have it's days, just give it some time

I've paid the extra $3 a month over the free version and that seemed to help a lot of issues I'd had in the past. Strange how the free things suddenly start to work when you give them some money!

Floreys Dark Dirt wash to go on (not too much as the scheme was  fairly shortlived). Weaponary needs finishing off. Final stages now!

Great work Tim, I'm glad you got her finished. I do so like the F-16 in this sort of colour scheme, much nicer than the Grey beasties.

The aerial shot looks great.

Thanks for joining the build, even though you were pulled away and thus unable to finish in time, it was a real pleasure to follow your build.
