Killingholme Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Put it away for at least a week, perhaps longer. I'm sure you can recover it with judicious sanding and patch-painting. And it might work out for the better. The Mk.XVII at FAA Museum Yeovilton has a very similar crinkly finish!! 1

Thank you Sir, My daughter said the same "It's an old Aircraft, so it look realist " I'll do just that, I have another one almost RFIed. Wise words indeed ! Sincerely. CC 2
Grey Beema Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 Do what Killingholme said put it away for a while then come back to it. I have some foam sanding pads I bought from the local car factors. They are used for polishing paint finishes on cars and can be used wet or dry. Judicious use might be the way ahead. Little bit at a time and good luck... 1
Christer A Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Ouch! That must sting! As all others have said, put it to on the shelf for a while so you don't do something rash, that usually leads to more troubles. Start a new kit or five instead 🙂 1

You know me now !! 😂 Sincerely. CC 1
Biggles87 Posted May 24, 2018 Posted May 24, 2018 The foam sanding blocks might be a good solution, I'm sure you'll get it sorted. Leave it alone for a few days or weeks, it won't look so bad when you go back to it. John 1
The Spadgent Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Oh what a right royal pain up the bottom. 😥 I can’t belive that. What paint do you use again? I have never had that problem with Tamiya top coat. Maybe thinking about it once. But only when I sprayed too close on a cockpit, I can’t remenber which one now but it made the paint shrink slightly and looked horrid. I use Tamiya paint “acrylic” . I hope you get her sorted CC. She’s a great lookin’ bird. 😊 mall the best kind sir. Johnny 1

corsaircorp Posted June 18, 2018 Author Posted June 18, 2018 Hello John, In fact, they were !! The Seafires were grounded on the spot as soon as they exited the war zone on account of severe wrinckling ! That show the courage and devotion to duty of the British FAA Not only going to war but on out of tolérances old aircrafts…. These guys show more than courage I think ! Now I will not hide myself behind that fact, the pic at hand show pretty well maintained aircraft That's why I restraint myself on weathering, before the at least !! Sincerely. CC 2

corsaircorp Posted June 21, 2018 Author Posted June 21, 2018 Hello Dears, Yesterday, I worked on my kits but as I was painting the ejection handle…. SWMBO and my daughter had a strong argument and came in the kitchen I looked at what was going on... Aaaaaand the bang seat fell into, yes into the yellow Tamiya paint jar…..🤬 How could this possibly happen…. So, luckily the seatbelts were'nt glued yet ! Gents ! try to drop a 1/48 ejection seat over an open paint jar ! there is a chance over 200 that it get in ! Useless to say that it did'nt calm the things down… So, it's cold war at CC castle today…. Sincerely. CC 3
Azgaron Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Ouch, that's no good! I hope things calm down so you can repaint the seat! Håkan 1

bigbadbadge Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 Hi CC Seafire looking rather splendid sorry to hear about the varnish issue. Lightning looks great too fella. What are the odds of dropping the seat into the paint. That is mad. Keep up the good work. All the best Chris 1

I did it too, and the camera are almost ready for my PR XI… But here, I want the thing to speed up a bit and these insert look good ... In the Seafire FR XVII I made the bracket from plasticard since no camera were carried at the time. So it's not too bad to help yourself sometimes 🤪 7 hours ago, bigbadbadge said: Hi CC Seafire looking rather splendid sorry to hear about the varnish issue. Lightning looks great too fella. I Don't know, I was painting the ejection handles, I turned my head to look at the squabbling... The seat fell from my hand, I looked for the seat and saw it sinking in the paint jar…. 😩😩 It's almost fixed now… But Murphy's law striked again !! Thanks for the kind words ! Sincerely. 14 hours ago, Azgaron said: Looks nice! Håkan Thanks Häkan, promise to be fun too !! Sincerely Thanks for popping in and have a good modelling Week end ! CC 2
malpaso Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 I imagine the seat came out with a perfect smooth even coat of yellow, unlike the usual streaky mess that is achieve by the usual paint- or airbrush methods for that colour! 😁 Cheers Will 1
