I hope the morale booster worked. I usually manage to remove some paint with the masking but that's a huge area to loose.

John

Hello john,

Sure it has worked, an irish coffee will not miss the point !

I was about to try it for weathering but not on this one.

PS 888 has to be pristine for her last flight !  So rectifications are to be done

This evening is modelling for me !! Eager to be 6 days older ...

Sincerely.

Ouch!

That paint lifting was anything but nice :worry:

Maby try to de-tack the tape first by sticking it to the top of you hand first before sticking it onto the kit?

(I must resist the allure to start another Spitfire...)

Hello Christer,

The way I always did, but this time it did'nt work !!:tumble::tumble:

Wich one are you going to start ??

I think that I will came back from Telford with an Airfix Mk V and start one or 2 of them !!

Well, I'm not going to start a Seafire, or a nice relaxing small Airfix Mk22...or that simple but straightforward Tamiya Vb ;)

My Seafire twins are on idle for that while, must make some moulds of my modified cowling.

And then 2 Seafire XVII, my poor Seafire IIc felt alone surrounded by all her RAF cousins !

Okay, see you in a week, tomorrow night I left for UK and Telford !!

But Yeovilton is my first step for Friday !

Byyyye !

Sincerely !

Those propeller blades really make a difference, whose are they please? I think I will need some replacements.

John

Hello John,

Hey, look there is now a new reference especially for the PR XIX.

Barracuda Cast BR 48093, look right !

I buy it in SMW and used it directly !

A little bit tinier for the 10'4" prop.

Hope that it's still time for you.

Sincerely.

Hello Dears,

Here co on flory !

I'm really pleased !!

WP_20171130_20_32_01_Pro

So I brush it every places !

WP_20171130_22_18_56_Pro

I let it on the kit for a good 20 minutes, then I clean it with a smoothly damped towel and here's the result !

Really subtle and tidy !!

lookin' closer

WP_20171130_22_19_07_Pro

So as I was reassured, I finished the whole thing !!

WP_20171130_22_19_26_Pro

Ok dears !! So go on Flory !!

This is a good base for weathering !

Now I will use some oïl paint for specific stains or weathering !!

But it is really easy to use with a great result !

So I must here thank our Dear @The Spadgent for the flory tip !!

Sincerely.

Looking good so far. I haven't tried any Flory washes, I use water colours,  gouache/tempera, and pastels, or a combination of all of them for weathering. I don't have the courage to try an oil spot wash as it usually takes me several weeks/months to get to that stage in a build and I would hate to mess it up.

Cheers

I know that feeling so well - you make a lovely job of all the seams and joins.  You get all the paint in all the right places.  You manage not to fog the canopy.  The decals are wrinkle free and straight as die.

There comes a point in every build when I think - 'don't mess up now - please'.  Putting in as much effort as we do the 'fear of failure' can be massive.

Oh sure Big X,

But whatever you do... Some of us including me are glued to the "Nearly finished model curse" :evil_laugh::evil_laugh:

I hope that it will not struck again with the PR XIX :hobbyhorse:
