Just checked Scalemates Flyboy and they say it's the old kit with some new parts but they don't say more about what they are.

What a waste of effort and what ifs to boot!

And the problem is?  The "what ifs" (which I think are Japanese anime subjects anyway) are far more interesting than the "real" subjects - especially that Draken shaped thingy!

ps I love that piggy back mode. Not a clue what is though as I can't read Japanese!!

If it was Airfix bringing this stuff out, I would tend to agree that it would be not worth it, but Hasegawa have a big domestic market and amine related stuff seems to be popular and so they will follow the money. Looking at Japanese modelling sites there is a lot of stuff that is never sold outside Japan.

What's the story with the MiG-25?.

To be honest Martin, I would personally LOVE to see Airfix produce these Anime designs but, as you rightly point out such things are probably not attractive to the UK market. To my knowledge, none of these kits have been available outside Japan. Certainly, the ones I bought previously were bought from overseas.

Ryan - The MiG 25 is the ICM kit reboxed by Hasegawa

Airfix are supposed to have sold a lot of Meteor Sweeper TSR.2's in Japan from the Stratos 4 anime.

The piggy back kit is from thhe anime series Macross Zero Allan, it's a VF-0 A/S Valkyrie carrying a Ghost drone and I wish they had a proper release over here in the UK.

Some interesting info coming out here. I did not realise for a long time the range of kits produced in Japan that are never exported. i would be interested to see what is available to the Japanese market, even though it would not be part of my modelling interests, I am just curious (which is something people sometimes say to me).

With you there chum!! My partner often says I'm quite curious and I don't think she means inquisitive!!. I'm always on the lookout for new things to build.  That SV-51 with the wing boosters just looks so utterly mean and nasty! I love it! I already have the Hasegawa ASF-X Shinden (from the Ace Combat series). Beautiful kit. Tried several outlets in the UK to no avail & had to buy from Japan.

Nothing much to see for non-anime fans. Yet another disappointing 2017 catalogue. This truly is turning into a most dismal year for modelling (dismal in the sense that nothing much worth excited about is coming out)

And of course there's the price issue (which is mostly Amerang to blame). Thanks to ebay though, I probably have not paid full price for a Hase kit in half a decade. :P
