Looks like you're making good progress and you don't look too rusty! Is this the warm up for the Lamborghini?

Possibly yeah but by the time I get one it'll probably be the warm up for the Tamiya

Hi everyone

Im having major issues with painting the minute bolts and tyre valves on bike. Does anyone have any tips before I scream my head off?!

Details are about 1 mm and even less sometimes

A fine high quality sable brush, something that will keep its point, is one tool. And don't overload it with paint, transfer a dab of paint to a recycled milk bottle cap and dip the brush in this, roll off any excess before application.

Or try a toothpick dipped in the paint, but not with a great gob of paint on the end.

Or try the reverse technique. Paint the whole piece, say the tyre valve silver, then paint the stem black and use a toothpick dipped in thinners to gently scrape away the top colour where it's overpainted to reveal a silver cap.

Hope this helps.

Another is to try a paint pen, I use Sakura Pen Touch 0.7mm in Silver - ebay sell them and I think Amazon do too.

Bit more done whilst off with chest infection! Definitely getting there. Tomorrow's job respray green frame (just another coat), tiny touch up printing, another coat of gun metal metallic and then hopefully have a go at doing exhaust pipes.

Then assembly.

Hi everyone,

I need some advice please.

I'm about to apply carbon decal to a couple of areas in my build.

I need to make some templates and I haven't got a clue how to make them when your shape is not straight forward?

Any tips or advice please

STAGE TWO......

Just finished all sub-assemblies, started putting bike together now. Just got heat staining on exhaust to do which is a learning curve as I've never done this before and this afternoon started on carbon fibre decals. A pig of a job especially when there are lots of angles

Yes I'm using micro sol and set, just had some trouble with carbon decals, but it's not too bad a job considering I've never done it before.

Just need to decal the nose cone fairing and one other piece, which will be even harder.

Just broke  the grip off the handlebar by accident, just gluing now and hopefully it'll stick, failing that I'll need to drill it out and put some Albion alloy in there to make it stronger again.

Nearly done now. It was somewhat easier the my last bike but I can't exactly say it was a walk in the park. Practice Practice Practice

Bit more progress over the week. All I can say is I'm happier with my attempts at this build than my previous Ducati Panigale 1199s. Yes there still huge area for improvement but 2nd bike build and I'm learning new skills and avoid problems a lot more on this build than last.

One of the major areas I'm not happy with is the carbon detail decals. This will take a lot more practice. They are so fiddly and awkward if the area isn't flat, which it often isn't on a motorbike.
