Was fortunate to be working for Tickford Aston Martin at the 88 Le Mans, the atmosphere was amazing.

The noise the big Jags made coming onto the Mulsanne straight was truly awesome.

So good to see the Skoda in the line up (before they became VW Audi )

Slightly partisan as when I was 18/19 I had a Skoda S110R Coupe.  Wonderful little car.

Lets face it any Alfa V and Ford V6 sounds gorgeous in full flight....

Edit: seeing as though we're talking about V's,might as well add Rovers V8...

that Rover V8 engines were actually Buick designs.....Remember the Sunbeam Tiger????

If we talk about V8, my father drives a '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9, a real beast in terms of torque.....everytime I drive it, I do it with the radio off, just to hear the engine....that's a simphony..

I've just found this,it's in Italian and if you just want to watch the racing it's at about 8 and a half mins,i remember seeing these monsters racing and being craned in and out of the marina....The trucks and motorhomes they bought over with them were incredible....

Great link, Vince - and a great battle.

Whatever one thinks of Mansell the man, Mansell the driver richly deserved his nickname of "il Leone"
