Peter Lloyd
Beautiful result Roman. Did you use the blu-tak method for the masking?
IanC
That's the best Bomber Command 'heavy' I've seen on here for a long time. Superb build.

Yes, Peter - I used "Blue Tac' (known to us in Austria as "Uhu Tac") for the upper color scheme. After pre-shading the panel lines, I applied the base color of RAF Brown: Next, the demarcation lines between colors, using "Blu Tac" worms: Because she's a big lady, I painted the wings and fuselage seperately. Here's where I'm working on the fuselage, some more pre-shading applied: Looks alright, but some corrections (overspray) will have to be done: (The Sherman tank in the background is watching over my workbench when I'm out for work.) Now, let's repeat the process on the undersides. Usually I paint this area first, but since the Halifax has a Black Belly (and I prefer to paint lighter colors first) this was reversed. All openings (such as bomb bay and wheel wells) were covered by various materials (tape, sponge). Here's the pre-shading applied: Now I spray several light coats of Black, trying to preserve the pre-shading along the panel lines. It is mandatory to thin the paint down - otherwise all the pre-shading disappears within a coat or two. .... and getting there, in the end - the pre-shaded panel lines are faintly visible on the Black undersurface! Peter Lloyd
Thank you for that and the illustrations. I recently finished the same model to a rather lower standard! Managing all the tape was a bit of a challenge. Your execution of the pre-shade method is exemplary.

At Sea
Just seen this so apologies for being late to the party. I have 2 of these to build, NP-F as Friday the 13th naturally. And BM-J which my Grandfather navigated in 1944/5 with 433 squadron RCAF. I only hope mine come out as nicely as yours. Incidentally where did you get the wheels? Incidentally where did you get the wheels? Good luck with your models! By the way, I bought the Kora Resin wheels at an Eastern European model show directly from the manufacturer. As far as I know, Hannants stocked them as well, but I can't find them in their listings anymore. Another manufacturer (Armory) also has replacement wheels for the Halifax: https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/ARAW72401
