1/72 Revell Handely Page Halifax B.III

Recommended Posts

Hello,

here's my recently finished 1/72 Revell Handley Page Halifax B.III.

I built straight from the box except the main wheels which seem to be undersized.

They were replaced by resin items from Kora.

As with most new Revell kits, this is a smooth & easy build.

I encountered some fit issues with the engine cowlings, but this was probably my own making, as I had painted all parts before assembly.

The tolerances here are so low that even the thin layer of paint was too much.

Decals come from the box, representing a machine of (Canadian) 424. Squadronm Skipton-On-Swale, December 1944.

Painted with acrylics from Gunze/Mr.Hobby.

The position lights come as clear parts; I drilled a small hole and added a dot of red and green paint with a sharpened toothpick.

To represent the 'wear & tear' of the propeller blades, I used a soft pencil to pronounce the edges.

The detail of the flame-daming exhausts is simply marvellous.

Even though the undersides are Black, I tried to apply some 'pre-shading'.

Here, it is faintly visible.

That's a beauty, Roman.   I think your pre-shading of the black is very affective and breaks up the monotone nature of the scheme really well.  I must get myself one of these kits.

A great build. And very inspirational. As soon as I get through the pile of Fortresses. Liberators and Lancasters, I WILL start on my Halifax. Well the Vulcan , then the Halifax.

Hi Roman!!!!

Just another wonderful build and another nice one!!!

The kit seem to be a one of the very best Revell great efforts. I was thinking it was a Trumpeter original but after a little eresearch have convined me that its Revell original...a nice kit BUT Here is another nice and detailed photo job, nice Wolfgang work, but the real star here is your great craftsmanship with this nice kit.

Have enjkoyed the nice build, great painting but the more I have enjoyed here is the nice soft weathering and precision you have achieved here.  As always, congratulations for this one too!!!

Thank you very much for  sharing!!!

Cheers,

Luis Alfonso
