The aftermarket items from BAM models are superb and highly recommended.

cheers, Jan

And get them quickly, once they're gone, they're gone.

He's closing up shop due to a work opportunity.

You and me both :( I wish him well in the new job and hope that somebody takes over the products.

If I rely on conversations on his facebook page, the current owner and creator of Bam Models is ceasing his activities,

but he is currently working on the possible sale of his 3D printing programs from his current catalog to another artisan

of 3D printed parts.

To be followed with great interest.

New information :

Check the Bam Models facebook page most recent post.

It seems that Bam Models 3D printed scale products will be back from Flying Lethernecks Scale Creations of Temple, Georgia, USA.

To be followed.

Let us hope that the postage doesn't make these too expensive to get in Europe, this could be a killer with some much of the range being Eurocentric.

Hannants stock Flying Leathernecks.

My hope is that they upscale some of the F-4 gear to 1/32: IDF/AF Sidewinder adaptor, bulk chaff buckets etc.

Looking forward to buying the 1/48 Sa'ar. I have the Special Hobby 1/72 one as a place holder (as I do their Mirage F.1, waiting for a bigger scale offering).

Worth reading the Flying Leathernecks Facebook announcement to the tie-in with the BAM range - still a lot to be determined

Some of that 1/48 scale F-4 gear would be quite popular in 1/32, I'm sure, and dovetail nicely in the Leathernecks range.

Uhm... I'm unable to get the former version of this kit 😑. I don't quite fancy the extended exhaust on the Sa'ar, I'm afraid.

Is this feature moulded to the rear of the new kit fuselage-like, or is it a separate part one is supposed to fix to it?

Thanks mates.

Cheers,

Igna

Hi Igna,

If you go to pages 3-4 of this thread you can see the parts.

The tail nozzles are separate assemblies but it's not yet certain whether the Sa'ar kit includes the short nozzle parts, in which case you can buy this ResKit set:

Nice!

I am currently building the original lit and I like it!

the landing gear is a bit flimsy though...

Is this a Shafir 1 missile?

Looks like a Shafrir-2 to me, and anyways, by the time the Sa'ar went into service the -1 model has long been retired from service due to poor performance. It may also be a Sidewinder, but I don't remember if 105 Squadron used them.

way too thick (diameter) for a Sidewinder model imho!

You can spot the 0.9 scale inches difference? :surprised: That's half a millimeter in 1/48! Waaay below my level of resolution.

Of course nor. Ido noteven know what scale this gaphic shows at my mobile phone....

More serious: I can only try to judge the shapes and relations.

A Matra Magic,  a Python, Shafrir or R-73 missile have much thicker, bigger diameter bodies than Sidewinder missiles  while sharing roughly the same length....

Now someone for sure will prove me wrong with numbers etc 😉

That's the thing, the Shafrir while not much larger in diameter than the Sidewinder were appreciable shorter in length, 2.5m vs. 2.83m for the B to 3m for the E. That would be responsible for their "chunkier" appearance, IMO.

(In the end, it was me the one with the numbers... sorry)

Shafrir 1 -  0,14m, Shafrir 2  - 0,16m Sidewinder 0,127m, lengthwise only the B is relevant I think, the E completely different in shape....

seems to be a Shafrir 1 because of the canard shape and forward position and related pylon:

The E is a B with a different, longer nose, everything else is the same. The rest, agree with you.

@exdraken. now that @Homebee updated the post with pictures of the extra 3D printed parts, is definitely a Shafrir-2, which makes sense for a Sa'ar.

Hi Bozo, my mate!

How's everything going up there in the Netherlands like?

Are you getting this kit?

Cheers,

Igna

definitely!

I have the 'French' one, and always had a soft spot for Israeli aircraft.

Oh? If you haven't built it by April the 1st, then you've got to sell it to me.

At least my kit is safe now :D

!

Was a very enjoyable build!

I am sure the French  🇫🇷 "Early" kit will get a re-release of some sorts!

Don't panic Igna!
