LaurieS
Starting this model. Looked at the Hasegawa decals and not impressed. Has any one used these and do they suit the above. Bobski
Yes, those decals are suitable, if you can get hold of a set as they are extremely rare. You'll need some weapons though, as there are none in the Hasegawa kit other than a pair of AIM-9s. For a GR7 over Afghanistan you'd need: UK 540lb iron bombs or UK 1000lb iron bombs or UK 1000lb Paveway II. The two 1000lb bombs are available from Flightpath. The 540lb bombs are in the Airfix Buccaneer, again if you can find one. CRV-7 rocket pods (either the 19 shot or 7 shot pods) TIALD pod with pylon

But I think I had the last one as it says they are re-stocking. Not sure where they will gt them from. My understanding is that Model-Alliance are no longer in business. Worth delving though as there will always be an odd one about Laurie http://www.kits-discount.com/en/decals/aircrafts/model-alliance/ml48161-air-war-over-afghanistan-2007-12-1-48.html

Tried them but they must have given them up. I have read somewhere, memory permitting, that these rocket pods are not all the same in configuration. Looking at the moment at Matra which I believe may be a similar system which the Harrier carried. Not up on this subject as you can guess but learning fast(ish) Thanks for your interest appreciated. Dave Fleming
Harriers in Afghanistan carried two styles of rocket pod (CVR-7 is the rocket, not the pod), the Matra is an earlier pod and not at all the same. The two pods were the 6 shot one (LAU-5002) and the 19 shot one (LAU5003). You can see the 19 rocket pod here (GR9s carried two 19 shot pods due to software changes) - GR7s usually carried one of each https://forums.flyer.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=67373 Other than the Belcher Bits, I'm not aware of any in 1/48th available. (Aviation megastore has one set in stock https://www.aviationmegastore.com/cf5a-weapons-bb18-belcher-bits-bb-18-aircraft-weaponry/product/?action=prodinfo&art=67348) Belcher seem to ahve them in stock too:http://www.belcherbits.com/lines/148conv/bb18.htm IIRC there are a number of US pods that are the same external dimensions (LAU-68 springs to mind) Edited December 15, 2016 by Dave Fleming

Looking into both. Aviation Megastore on line delivery is £22. Have asked them nicely if they would reconsider. But after studying the Canadian direct Belcher it seems for the same price as Aviation I get a whole lot more. One matter which is thrown up how do these things stick on the wings as they do not seem to come with a carrier frame ? Again many thanks for your time it is much appreciated. Would you mind if I asked for further info as I get into the project. Whilst I am a reasonable model maker I have not a clue about the detail on a Harrier. Though learning fast.
