Junkers Ju 87 Stuka STGB Chat

I have a Trumpy Stuka that’s been waiting patiently in the build queue for a year or so and could jump the last few places to get on board here. Whether it will get finished in the time for the GB end date is of course an entirely unlikely proposition but if you are happy to get a probable non finisher I will fish it out and poke about in the box preliminary to the starting gun going off

It doesn't matter on my build.

I won't use them.

That solves that problem ;)

Yes you have to fish it out and have a go at it here!

I haven't finished one build over the last four years for this or that reason but have now over 30 completed cockpit builds - I know something wrong with me, but I have fun building cockpits and isn't that what counts? And as a bonus, unfinished models are much easier to store.

So as you can see, you are not alone and I am sure there are more of us not finishing a build! As long as you have fun all is good.

And if you have some spare time over Christmas, why not make use of the 25% rule, that is as long as a build hasn't progressed over 25% of the complete build, it is ok to enter it in the group build.

Cheers, Peter

I may join in.

A while ago I was gived a 1/48 Monogram Ju87G. It was missing the canopy, a tail wing strut and the decals are all cracked up.

I bought a vac canopy for it. Hannants had just one left, and at a discount too.

The tail strut I can make, decals can come from my spares

The main problem is my computer. Its got severely corrupted and I can only get on internet, or use the comp at all,  for 4 to 5 minutes then I have to shut down and reboot.

I think I'll buy a new one after Christmas

I believe the other question is the colour of the snake - the box top shows red but my sources all say brown, as in the Almark decs!

Yes please, I’m hoping to do this with the Airfix 1/48 B-1 as the start (as per real life). I have quite a few photos but you can never have too many!

Using the Airfix kit would involve scratchbuilding.

The Hasegawa kit states "Graf Zeppelin" .That must mean that those folding wingparts are incluided.

And the wings also look cliped in the boxart.

Yes it will need the wing fold(s), arrestor hook and a few other little bits scratchbuilt.

The Hasegawa kit doesn’t come with folding wings And you have to chop the wings to shorten them out of the box but it does come with The wing caps and resin hook and a few other bits.

See https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/m/10107281 for the instructions.

Thank you for the info.

That's a no-go kit for me. Nothing spectacular at all .

It would have been a lot better if it was a new mold kit with the folding wings

I don’t think there are any with the wing-folds ready to go. It’s a shame, the Stuka looks great with the wings folded, as do most aircraft in my opinion!  This project is something I’ve been thinking about for a few years now, sadly the 109T that would have escorted them wasn’t due to have folded wings, unless anyone can correct me, they’d look good as a pair.

With just some prototypes being build for the Graf Zeppelin,I dought we will ever see a kit with the folded wings.

The one for the Graf Zeppelin that already had folding wings would be the Fieseler Storch as recon plane.

Or the Arado 196 without the floats and some type of fixed landing gear.

It's all "what-if"

Any one is welcome to join. No need to ask. Sounds like an interesting project. I hope you managed to sort out your PC.

This looks interesting.

If it can be build with folded wings.

Any reviews or buildreports ?

Yes no wingfold on this kit, only instructions how to shorten the wingspan. And in any case it will be a challenge to obtain this kit.

Only two weeks to go.

Cheers, Peter

Hi @Basilisk

I have tried to ignore this GB for yonks, as I still work on the GB kits I enter centuries later...

But the Gods have been unkind and blackmailed me into buying the Airfix 1/72 Ju 87 B-1... I did resist! ...for a short while...

So I might as well be a total weakling and ask you to put my name on the list.

It is not an original kit, but it is  a lovely kit, and I know I will thoroughly enjoy what little I build!!!

Cheers

JR

Boys and Girls

I am not sure if this has been noted before but I was having a few issues and a ponder in planning my build ahead of the starting gun.  The cockpit was troubling me and I was searching the net for information.

I came across theses references on WW2aircraft.net which are the original service and manuals in German  plus other interesting stuff

Lots of photos, diagrams of bits rarely if ever seen and if you need to have a wiring diagram for the electrics with voltages in German its all there plus a shed load of stuff I cant understand but I assume is not what the crew get to eat for breakfast.  Looks like one booklet is on how to bomb up your own Stuka.

Anyway have a butchers at this and any comments on what "stuff" is most welcome

http://www.ww2aircraft.net/forum/other-mechanical-systems-tech/junkers-ju-87-manuals-5504.html#post476295

Lots of links from that thread

Hope it helps some of you too

John

Well I've still not found an Airfix Ju87 in 1/72 anywhere.... So it's now down to a zvezda 1/72 or Airfix 1/48 I think...

You and me both ? They must be getting ready to drop a new marking’s option as they're all dried up. Airfix tends to do that from what ive seen.

Same for the He111 I think. That seems to have vanished too...

What I want is either Eastern front schemes with white camouflage or more desert schemes on both.
