But whoooops nonetheless.... And yes the kit swap trick is working fine..... Sometimes, I think once in a month, I go to Namur to meet a fellow modeller And the guy is litterally trawling the web for kits, he is running a FB page.... Maquette d occaz is the name of the page, but beware, it can be addictive.... Of course, the guy is french but he use to send kits by mondial relay... We have a deal, When he order from Passion 132, which is a mere 10 kms from my home, I use to pick it up myself.... Although Laurent is french, he's living in Belgium, let's say that Namur is 30 Kms from my home and it is a very nice place to have a beer.... It's just a winner win-win..... corsaircorp
Hello Gents, Some have noticed the 2 poor almost assembled Hurricanes... And the 3rd, huh, No the 5th one waiting impatiently.... As I need room in my waiting room, let's spend a bit of time with the reg wing Hurries.... I added the prominent rivets on the old Airfix Hurricane.... Does that make a rivet counter out of me ??? And Hooops, one of rivet is fighting for his independance... I need to correct it tomorrow.... Stay safe Gents !! And enjoy modelling !! Sincerely 88 CC 7
corsaircorp
Hello Gents !! It has clearly been an Hawker Night at CC's towers last evening.... Then a Corsair.... I miss a finished Corsair.... But Chris made the Furies going up again.... More Hawkers in the game.... Challenge accepted.... Have some loads of Vicodin, just in case @The Spadgent paid a visit on here.... Old Airfix radiator... Cannot decently use it that way... Weathering has started on the Sea Fury.... And the next Sea Fury is going on... But these 2 long delayed Hurricanes will move forward.... What about starting another thread ??? Relax chaps, it was a joke.... corsaircorp
Now, a question... I will add the butter cutter antenna to these 2 early Hurricanes... Reminder, one involved in 1940 So called battle of France, the other one involved in BoB.... Is it right or wrong ?? Since these IFF antennaes are pretty hard to distinct on period pics.... Thanks for the help... CC
Graham Boak
I would say no point in having the IFF on Hurricanes in France, as they depended on the UK-based Chain Home radars (RDF), and there was no centralised control to make use of them. Apart from being pointless, they would not have been fitted for security reasons. It is possible that some of the sent-in-a-panic airframes might have retained them, or they might have been on the aircraft with squadrons that were detached part-time, but I suspect security would rule otherwise. However it is more likely still that they hadn't been introduced even on the UK fleet. BoB aircraft yes, though possibly not until after some date unknown to me.

Thank you for the info Graham, I spent some times on the web and as far as I found out, IFF butter cutter have been generalized around September 1940.. It lasted a bit longer for the FAA aircrafts, then RAF turned quickly on the IFF antenna mast under the wing... Thanks again for your right advice 👍👍 1 hour ago, The Spadgent said: Quick pass some over. 😳 😂 Huh sorry about that John... Cleaning up the mess of my "Rats, 3rd time that the fuselage crack open but there will not be a fourth one" gluing... That's the Classic Airframe one.... No butter cutter on this one neither since the original did'nt lasted that long.... However, I'll have a check before.... I also worked on the old Airfix one.... About time to finish these 2... And the 3rd one too.... But, I have decals for another Mk I Now, the question is.... Might this CC stay quiet ??? Time will tell..... Sincerely. So far, it's still closed.... But this resin rag wing will turn me crazy.... There will be more CA glue than resin at last..... Maybe these tiny cheese holes are alive and try some natural generation.... Well, finishing these 2 quickly now.... And where holes are needed, aka the ejection chutes, there are none.... How shocking !! I feel eager to make some Sea Hurricanes, but I must finish the ones I started before turning to the sea going thing.... Can't wait to see the future Trumpy Hobby Boss Hurries.... And as soon as I finish mine, there will be brand new rag winged Hurricanes.... Bets are open.... Have a great modelling session Gents !! Sincerely. corsaircorp
Hello Gents..... Ironically, I dared to call this thread a relaxing one.... 4 Hurricanes later, I'm about to finish these 2.... corsaircorp
Hello Gents... I let my promise of more Naval aviation birds.... Let's finish kits...the cabinet will explose..... Soooo, Frankenhurri..... Sourced a better Carb intake....From a nowadays Airfix kit for a 1971 Airfix kit.... Then more parts from here and there.... It will be primed soon !! And then.... Huh.... Are you CCrious ??? Another one ??? Sincerely. CC 8
corsaircorp
Hello Gents, Following @Troy Smith's advice, 5 spokes wheel are done... Amazing, an Eduard 2015 Spitfire rim in an Airfix 1971 tyre..... FrankenHurri to the bones.... Then, this morning we had a walk with Mrs CC and CCjunior..... We get to Chimay... Is that serious ?? Really ?? Went back with this.... Don't you tell it to a well known @Martian..... Hooops.... Too late.... My bad..... Have a great modelling week end or sunday.... Sincerely. corsaircorp
Hello Gents, Well, I didn't worried too much about canopies for the 2 early Hurries.... That was a mistake.... There was 3 vac formed canopies in the SH one.... Until I open the bag..... And saw that 2 canopies are cracked..... I gulped and start a skull session.... Cheers with no pity was totally adapted to the situation..... So, I took back the old Airfix canopy.... With this enormous rear vew mirror on it.... My tiny saw and on we go..... Step one.... Cutting clear parts is by no means my cup of tea.... The cut was right... Now.... The rearview mirror is sanded down.... Step 2 Okay..... polishing then..... Salve Regina..... Step 3 okay too..... The day is saved.... As I feel thirsty for painting, I masked up the cockpit and got some primer on.... Pretty funny that the Hurricane is now more advanced than the -5N and the F-22...... Modelling in CC's way.... Always a surprise..... Have a great modelling week.... Tomorrow, hospitals, for me in the morning, Scanner and for my son in the afternoon.... And tomorrow for Mrs CC , Colonoscopy..... Not funny at all.... See you soon Gents.... Sincerely. CC
