My after Spit relaxing, Hurricanes Mk I Classic Airfitaleri

Recommended Posts

Hello Dears !!

Well, I sorted some problems these days both on modelling and IRL matters ...

Group captain pennants are on their way from the big H...

In fact, this Hurricane is already produced on a decal sheet from DK decals...😏

And there is some other Hurries on this sheet... And Sea Hurricanes... :evil_laugh::evil_laugh:

Meanwhile, I started with what was at hand...

IMG_20200917_232318

I think that I will buy more Hurricanes.... And Sea Hurricanes... :bandit:

Sooo, Airfix exhaust have been hollowed

IMG_20200917_211340

And I did a lot on Hurricane's parts... And Mustang ones....

IMG_20200917_232330

It is strange times... I did a lot, but nothing came out from it...

I'm still waiting for my Canberra's parts to show up..

I received news from both Alec and Jay, good things, I no longer worry about..

Well, will my next RFI be a Hurricane or another Mustang...

It will depend from the postman ...

Then, I'm still sad about this great dame... RIP Emma Peel

Strange year for sure...

Have a great modelling time...

Sincerely.

Hello Dears,

I'm stalled now, I'm waiting for the last decals to arrive from the big H...

And then Flory time !!

IMG_20200920_014326

On the other front, my cunning plan was not so clever...

The weasel trapped itself...

So, I change my mind and take another way...

I'll put the internals on this side of Bee's Hurricane...

IMG_20200919_235405

As a reminder, it's the old Airfix kit with an Heritage resin wing...

Why so easy ???

Have a great modelling sunday !!

Hello Dears,

My little 1/48 Hawkinge is going well after all...

IMG_20200923_212113

My late Airfix kit is on its way too...

Considering that Airfix offering at the time was that...

IMG_20200923_233328

This scratchbuild is already an improvement...

IMG_20200923_233145

Lurking behind is the RTAG Hurricane still languishing for her decals to arrive...

Now Gents, my job offer some opportunities,

Moons ago, I fixed the car of an old Lady,

As usual, We had a casual conversation, I always talk to my customer, I'm a chatty guy...

And it appear that the Lady was sister in law of a Belgian pilot who fled occupied Belgium...

Has been interned in the sadly known camp of Miranda in Spain

And fought in the R.A.F in WW II.

Yesterday, I received this...

IMG_20200923_142326

Her late husband collected things about WW II and wrote in local reviews...

Lots of peoples promise a lot when they are in dire situation with their cars...

Some on them keep on their promises...

Have a great modelling time...

I'm on for 3 more evening work days...

See you later..

Take care...

Sincerely.

Ow !! @Dunny

There was 28 belgian pilots at the time of BoB...

Then Belgians were gathering on the 609 Sqdn, it's one of the reason for my Roland Bee Beamont enthusiasm...

And then, 349 and 350 were created as Belgians Sqdn...

119785941_1627500057410265_7731702245501183303_o

But lots of them selected to stay in British Sqdn, 609 notably...

If you type Raymond Lallemant, or Mike Donnet, you'll see..

The most atypic of them was De Hemricourt de Grunne....

Astonishing stories...

Sincerely.

Hello Dears,

Why did I once called this thread RELAXING ???

Sooo Mail call on Friday...

IMG_20200927_193120

And the result is that now... I need more Hurricanes AND Sea Hurricanes...

IMG_20200927_200938

RTAG Hurri is now decaled completely

Bits of micro painting let it cure thoroughly...

Flory this evening...

This Sea Hurricane with an ETO engine cowling is too tempting...

Now I think that A/C 7 and A/C 8 has been mismatched, the white painted spine was used as an help for the Takoradi ferry flights...

Fuselages of my RNDFF is now done...

IMG_20200927_200714

I don't know yet who will be the next Hurricane to hit the paintbooth !!

See you soon Gents !!

IMG_20200928_230144

Decals OK

Flory    OK

Meanwhile, she is on her legs !!

A bit of oil painting, a coat of varnish !!

Transparencies and antenna !!

Then my avenger Hurricane is on its way too

IMG_20200928_230309

On we go...

I'll buy another Airfix Hurricane..... Shhhh

This 😱😱 decal sheet is too tempting....

And another Sea Hurricane too....

For the same reasons....

Unforgivable CC

Hello Dears,

Working on the antenna now...

I did'nt have the skill of @TheBaron, so I did'nt reproduce the little pulley afixed at the antenna mast...

Even at 1/48... I know, I know....

But I did this...

IMG_20200930_222819

Micro sawed on the width of the spar, inserted the EZ line and then Glued and clamped...

It's just a look alike but good enough to me... Sorry...

Now the early Mk I, here called Bee's Hurri will receive a scratchbuild rudder pedals...

IMG_20200930_204114

The old Airfix Hurricane is already improved a bit !!

Hope that the RTAG Hurri will receive a clear coat tomorrow...

No RFI in September....

Whatever !!

Take care Gents and have a Nice modelling time !!

Sincerely.

As usual, there's a setback....:banghead:

As the Airfix wheels suffer from short shots... I decide to use resin wheels from my stock...

I painted it and at the time to glue it something looked weird....

By Jove !!! I did the mistake to prepare wheels from Typhoon/Tempest.Sea Fury.....

Far too big for a Hurricane unless you do a Bush wheeled Hurri....

It's in Rhodesia after all... But No !!

Sooo, RFI is postponed a bit...

Sincerely.

Very good man you are !!

One can find Orval in sweden ?? Amazing if yes !!

Well Gents !!

I scratched some more greeblies for the Bee's Hurricane internals

IMG_20201002_230307

Then, I do my best to save the new Airfix wheels...

I will no stall the RTAG's Hurri any longer...

IMG_20201002_230440

Sorry late to the party CC.  Great work on your additions etc.  Re the MkI on the bottom of your decal sheet options, it looks great in a model.  @tonyot built one in 48th scale will be worth seeking out his thread and I have built the Arma Hobby kit of this too.

Keep up the great work.

Thanks Alain,
We do get Belgian beer in Sweden but Orval is on the special delivery list.

Not sure if you have heard about the way anything stronger then 3.5% is sold in Sweden.
We have a special state owned distribution company and they carry a HUGE assortiment.
Systembolaget in Nordstan has +4500 labels in total of which +300 labels are in the beer assortiment.

Anyway, in the Orval glass yesterday I had the locally brewed beer in the picture, today however there is a Westmalle.

2v2Hhk46yx6eHcV.jpg

Had my taste for that while living in Halle outside Brussels in 2007.

And hey buddy, you missed a few in the picture:

There is a P51, a Spit and a Hurry, Tigertracks, a GAZ AAA and a BTR 80 in that picture too.
Well at least bits and pieces that have been left on the bench between shifts ;)

Keep up the good work and enjoy your weekend!

Hiya Chris,...... cheers mate,..... yes I found the Royal Navy Hurricane on an old WW2 training film researched it and got some decals made up. My research was sent to DK Decals and Arma and they both opted to reproduce it too, using my model as reference too. Here is my model,.... along with some still from the film too;

Re the Takoradi aircraft,..... same story as above really,...... I have some photos in my collection featuring this aircraft, I modelled it, hand painting the numbers,..... and again DK Decals liked it;

The same story goes for a few others on that sheet too!

Loved the Rhodesian Hurri in RFI @corsaircorp,..... very nice indeed.

Cheers

           Tony
