corsaircorp
Hello Dears ! Ok blue paint is now done ! Hello Zack, Yup same X tracrylic blue ! One more clue, this one will have VC3 markings !! The radar pod on -5 is much bigger than the one used on the -2 Then, it did'nt have the same shape. The Minicraft -5N will be highly modified too After all that cleaning up, I'll restart another Korean War -5N, I know, I'm helpless !! Seemingly, my cousin and me are not the only fan of the jolly Roger Sqdn Let's have a pin up as a moral support... Have a great modelling sunday !! Sincerely. 72modeler
Lookin' good, CC! Can't wait to see her on her pegs! Mike BTW CC, to answer your earlier engine question, the XF4U-3 did indeed use the C series R-2800- in fact, an XR-2800-16, so the engine would look just like the one you posted the photo of an the far left hand side. It was converted from an F4U-1A, BuNo 17516. See the link below for the history and details of the XF4U-3A, B, and C. Wish we had a resin 1/72 conversion set, as it's a very different-looking Hog! https://www.jdsf4u.be/xf4u-3-vought-corsair

72modeler
CC, Bet you have this site bookmarked, but just in case.... XF4U-3 details and photos. They are from the Vought Heritage website, which I have also attached a link to. The site is a very good modelers reference source. Mike https://www.vought.org/products/html/xf4u-3.html https://www.vought.org/index.html I'm thinking one day I will try the first XF4U-3 with one of my 1/72 Hasegawa or Tamiya birdcage kits. I recall somebody doing a nice one in 1/48 scale a while back- I will try to find it and post a link for your reference. https://www.riethcreations.com/product-page/1-48-scale-xf4u-3b-resin-accessories-set http://www.gmodelart.com/2020/04/vought-xf4u-3-corsair.html https://modelairplanemaker.com/2019/03/23/the-quick-and-dirty-guide-to-modeling-the-corsair-in-us-service/

Hello Tony, If you come back in Belgium, call on me, I'll show you some interesting places and I'll have you tasting some interesting stuff !! As Debs use to say, "One can trust Belgians for 3 things only, Chocolate, Beer and firearms" When I hear that, I burst in laugh, then, it's almost right 15 hours ago, Shalako said: I have never used Xtracrylics paints but, while looking at your model they seem to be quite good (coverage and smoothness). corsaircorp
Well well well, Let me show you some parts of me... hidden for almost everyone... Even my wife did'nt know it and I'm sure that she would'nt care at all... Years ago, I've been lucky enough to have an access in Dugny, reserves of the Bourget museum in Paris... And ever since, I still carry it with me Always in my special wallet... Did you see that little dirt thingies ? I'll take the risk to have one of this out of the plastic... These are actual paint chip of an actual and unrestored USN aicraft from the '50s To be sure enough, a bit of a F4U-7 frame and an engine nacelle of a Neptune. The girl who was beside me at the time really took me as a maniac... When she saw me pick up these little paint chipping and save it in my wallet.... I took the bet months ago to drop one of this chip on the wing of my -4 Jolly Rogers Corsair and it was a perfect match !! Now, everyone is free and I stick to my recipe Have a great modelling week end Sincerely. CC

corsaircorp
hello Dears !! seriously ?? I bought it for a test and also because the Minicraft propeller is highly suspect... But this is labelled for the HB kit and it is about the same part.... Now the Quickboost hub is an improvement... but... Well, I played this game again... Well, I don't know if it is visible on the pic but there's a difference... Port wing is done, and fuselage halve is done too... I should use the trick more oftenly !! I also worked on her ordnance today... Letting now the paint curing thoroughly !! Another interesting conversion... The next one will be a bit more arduous... Have a great modelling sunday !! Sincerely. CC
