SiberianBrit
Hiya guys! Just posting to ask for some C&C on this WiP (still needs a lot of detailing and some covering of the white paint still showing through) paint scheme... this is the first time I've painted 28mm Brits. I think I've got the colours just about right but I'm scared the mini is too dark... I thought I might put a dry brush/highlight of some desert yellow over the top just to make the details pop? I've two pictures under a lamp and one picture in natural sunlight (I figure the latter is better for gauging how it'll look on the tabletop). With WW2 miniatures I've had problems where my minis were too dark; hence why I used a white undercoat for this one.
Etienne
Hello, not a specialist of the british battledress but from what I've seen, the wool fabric was pretty dark and faded with wear and dust. Your miniature seems to take into account the scale effect and wear pretty well in my opinion. E
spursn17
Looks pretty good to me, nice job! I'm suffering with the same subject in 1/35 at the moment.
Hamden
Colour doesn't look to far out to me Roger
demiles
May be just a very light dry brush with say Humbrol 72 otherwise looks fine.
Silver Fox
It looks fine to me, I lighten the webbing a bit more than you have but it varied a lot.
Eludia
He looks good to me When painting small scale figures the main thing to think about is contrast. The moulded creases and recesses aren't deep enough to take advantage of the ambient light to create natural shadows so you need to help them along a bit by creating them yourself. That means painting dark shadows in the recesses and fairly bright highlights on top of the creases and along pocket edges etc... As a general rule of thumb, the smaller the scale then the higher the contrast needs to be. As far as uniform colours go, there was so much variation between manufacturers, not to mention natural aging/weathering of the fabrics, that anything in the county never mind the ballpark would be accurate enough. Even when I served (only a few years ago) you were lucky if you got a smock that matched your trousers HTH
