Gary w 1960
I would like to model an armoured vehicle. I love terrain building since the WW1 trench project at my daughters school inspired me to recreate a trench system about 30 by 20inches. I want a kit that is straight forward that will not require too much to get the parts to fit correctly. Any suggestions...whatever era...with or without figures....max scale 1/35 th. Will eventually start diorama build when I get to grips with the genre. kind regards Gary
JackG
For simplicity and ease of fit, can't go wrong with Tamiya. They do both 1/35 and 1/48, but the latter scale does not have as many kits to choose from. regards, Jack
bull-nut
I second Tamiya, never built a Tamiya armour kit that didn't practically build itself. I prefer 1/48 myself, they are a little smaller, And the Link and Length tracks build up easily, but they also have fewer small, fiddly components. The range is still big enough that you should be able to find something you like, though be aware that many of the older armour kits in the 1/48 range have die-cast metal hulls, which can catch some people out. Check the kit description on the Tamiya website if you are unsure. Best of luck. Edited November 20, 2016 by bull-nut
Sgt.Squarehead
I've only built one 1/35 kit, it was Tamiya, it fell together. I prefer 1/72 myself.....You might be surprised at just how good some modern Braille Scale kits are: http://henk.fox3000.com/index2.htm

The size factor is attractive I will admit.
Sgt.Squarehead
Yup, Henk's site is superb.....You should find every Braille kit ever made in there somewhere. Blaubar
I'd suggest Trumpeters Ardelt Waffentrager. Perfect fit, easy to build and cheap. Can , but must not be, upgraded by PE parts (included in the kit). It is 1/35 scale. /Stefan As for trenches, check out the crazy Trench guy and his amazing detail. http://www.militarymodelling.com/forums/postings.asp?th=80609
Bonhoff
1/35 Tamiya PzII. Kit is as old as the hills but still goes together really well in a couple of hours. And cheap as chips too.
Bullbasket
My two centimes worth....Tamiya 1/35th. The M4 is long in the tooth but goes together well. Avoid at all costs, Bronco. Nothing wrong with the kits except from a newcomers point of view. They are overly complicated with some fiddly small pieces. Another good one would be Italeri's Crusader. Silver Fox
Tamiyas 1/48th scale armour is a good compromise for both size and complexity. The kits are generally accurate and fun to build straight from the box. They are relatively cheap compared to 1/35 and there is a wide range from motorcycles to main battle tanks. The Airfix 1/48 Bedford MW is also a cracking kit.
