Revell 1/72 Type IX U-Boat U-515

Recommended Posts

I just completed the Revell 1/72 Type IX U-boat U-515 in the WIP section. I used Vallejo acrylics for the base and burnt umber and burnt sienna oils for the rust streaks and chipping. Wetted pastels were used for the waterline weathering and dry pastels were used for the overall streaking. The AA guns were from MpM.

Enjoy.

One of the best 72nd boats I've seen so far. Delicate weathering, especially on the lower hull. The AA guns look the part, good decision to replace the kit parts here.

Congrats to this good looking big boat on your shelf!

Hi Bitzer

I am not a maritime builder but I do know when a model has been finished to a superb standard.

The weathering is brilliant, I particularly like the white 'scum line' on the sides of the vessel. also the rigging and just aboat everything else!

Good job

Cheers

Keith

Thanks mates,

I took some new pictures of her with a white backdrop so she's not so yellow looking. I'll replace them presently.

They were from the Eduard PE set.

By the way, I received the anchor from ROG today

Thank you guys! The oil canning took a bit of time but I'm pleased with the results.

I'm not a ship builder but can certainly appreciate a well built model. This is spectacular, extremely well built and weathered. Congratulations!

Thanks again guys!

Lucus, It's an easy kit to build. The only part heavy area is the tower. I just add difficulty by installimg the PE sets and spending weeks adding the "oil canning" effect.
