exdraken
as promised, back on the bench! PE HUD and work on the wings (flaps and slats) are very nice, would be a shame not to show them! ready for mounting them to the fuselage! in general, the model is quite more advanced then I remembered - in terms of model detail and quality, and my own progress! the instructions are complicated though.... not easy to follow them.... similar to the Mirage IIIO I just built....
Col.
Nice work so far Werner. The kit looks to have a nice level of detail about it.

BlueFlyer
Nice progress. How did you find the fit of the wings? on my 2 seater the joint is really loose & going to need some reinforcement.

I did not drop it yet, as I usually do close to the finish line, but for now the fit and joint is very good, stable and no filler needed. thanks for your kind words! exdraken
first coat of paint: I used Revell 374, slightly lightened
exdraken
I am wondering if I have to lighten the colors a bit more and if I need to add some tan/brown tint.... Looking at photo closeups, of the real thing the color is quite close.. Suggestions please!

exdraken
hmm how to model a IAI Lizard / Opher lgb? looks like a GBU-12 but with a larger laser spot tracker http://sistemasdearmas.com.br/pgm/opher.html that is what the AMX seems to carry! not the standard GBU-12! https://www.analisidifesa.it/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/AMX-rid.jpg https://www.analisidifesa.it/2013/09/oltre-2-600-missioni-per-gli-amx-in-afghanistan/ http://www.difesa.it/sites/archive2/sitecollectionimages/ff052a9b-ff37-435f-adb1-6f4a8cb9183b/9859b71b-fdb4-4fe8-bc4c-05dad0de5b1e001Medium.jpg any idea where to get one in 48th? I was thinking to modify the AMK Kfir LGBs.. but those are old style Griffins... different seaker and fins again
exdraken
so, if you ahve any idea regarding the LGBs form above, please let me know! meanwhile stencils as far as I see them worth the effort. The decals sheet is excellent by the way! Cartograf printed, FCM designed cheers, Werner

guillaume320
Awesome! I really like the AMX 😀 If I may point out: it is more common to see the small fuel tanks being carried on the outboard pylons rather than the large ones you seem to have used. Carry on if this is intentional of course...

I actually have a hard time finding an Italian AMX with tanks inboard (lot s of Brazilian ones though... )... found one and that was clearly a big one... so maybe I just assumed that I can put the large tanks outboard because the look so big? shape wise they look identical to me.... I’m not saying the large tanks couldn’t be carried outboard, I just can’t recall ever having seen this (at least on Italian aircraft). More than happy to stand corrected on that of course Anyway your build quality and finishing standard is spotless 😀

guillaume320
Looking at pictures it seems the larger tanks aren’t carried very often in recent years, mostly small ones. Two more interesting shots if you allow: first one again with the large tanks inboard, and Orpheus pod on the centerline https://www.airliners.net/photo/Italy-Air-Force/AMX-International-AMX/4227433/L Next is the configuration I want to make my single seater (one day!), also Orpheus with the small tanks: https://www.airfighters.com/photo/102058/M/Italy-Air-Force/AMX-International-AMX/MM7132/ The Orpheus in the Kinetic kit can go straight to the bin (underscale). Thanks god I’ve got some spares in the Daco F-104 upgrade sets 😀 Apologies for highjacking your WIP.... Looking forward to more updates 🍿 G

Looking forward to more updates 🍿 G thanks a lot! no highjacking at all! that si why I post my work! to ahve some discussions and learn from each other! good to know about the Orpheus pod... I'd also have the Daco set, but actually I will put a Litening pod there... as used in Afghanistan and Iraq. Need to check wich version though.... some more interesting shots: big tanks: (what size actually? in gallons preferably ) https://www.airfighters.com/photo/211188/M/Italy-Air-Force/AMX-International-AMX/MM7184/ https://www.airfighters.com/photo/207789/M/Italy-Air-Force/AMX-International-AMX/MM7189/ and with bomb and twin store carrier and rocket pods: https://www.airfighters.com/photo_9999_282383.jpg no nice photos, but it is on its own feet! and without the big tanks again ... the small ones are currently in the paint shop i noticed in the photo above that the rigth stab is at a different angle..... and the wheels also need better ajustment Edited December 5, 2019 by exdraken
