1/18 French SBD-5 Dauntless Indochina 1947

total construction time just under two years. From Merit SBD-3/4 kit with extensive modifications. New windshield, scratchbuilt flaps and actuating mechanism, scratchbuilt interior, twin 0.30 cals, engine, engine accessory compartment, bomb racks and fuselage interior. Skinned with pewter sheet.

thanks guys

 

yes I was always in two minds about the weathering throughout the build, but it looks 'worse' than it is in close up photos... but you are right, these machines were at the end of their service life and heavily weathered.

I just don't know where you got the 40 foot kitchen table from! I genuinely can't tell the difference between that and a real one. Not only is the detail eye-wateringly, er, detailed, but the finish is wonderfully weathered too. It was just like a set of walkaround reference pictures. You must be very pleased with it. So what's next? Maybe a quick Airfix starter kit for light relief?
