Graham T
This has happened to me before but this time I followed a tip that said that running the tip of a sharp knife around the mask before removal sometimes helps. In my case, only partially. I'm sure the problem wouldn't arise if the masks are removed before the paint has entirely cured but with me, several days always elapse between painting & time to remove the masks which means that the paint is pretty well rock hard! woody37
Key things I've found assuming you're using masking tape such as Tamiya or Eduard... spray light coAts to build up gradually. If it's gone on too quick and too thick, it. Any cured paint may be overlapping the edge. OT sure what paint you e used but if it's Halfords gloss white, this sprays quite thick, so I find warming up before hand helps it to spray finer. Not sure if that helps? cheers neil
kapam
Hey Graham, don't be discouraged. It actually looks okay. The top coat looks a little like a Halfords-style primer, which does tend to go on a little thick. I have had similar experiences masking primer - I once used Gunze white primer masked into rectangular blocks for background to some under-wing serials (the subject was an Australian Airlines Fokker F-27). I did not count on the elasticity and bond of the paint and much of it peeled off with the masks! If I have any advice to offer, it would be sticking with standard top-coats from the various mainstream hobby brands and try not to mask primer coats like Halfords and so forth.
