fewr9fkr9595
John- Is the preshading we can see there on top of the aluminium colour? Because now if you add chipping fluid then the RLM 02, you will be chipping back to the black preshading in some areas? I would have done preshade, alu, chipping fluid then RLM 02 so you are chipping back to varied alu shades, OR Alu, chipping fluid, then preshade and 02 straight after for a varied interior. Then chip back to the plain alu cause then the preshading will come off with 02. Unless I've misunderstood what you're doing in the pics? Tony. I've never gone this big before so never really needed to do this, so it's a bit of trial and error I'm afraid. The Alu is popping through the black enough to still be metal. (Phew) I like both your ideas and will ponder on them for the main course. Here though, where the natural scratches will be added isn't where the pre shade is. So fingers crossed I'll be ok. We'll find out tonight. Thanks for for the great ideas though. john Edited November 29, 2016 by The Spadgent

The Spadgent
"Official modelling night" it's an arrangement we/she has so I can't "Just" vanish whenever I get a spare moment. . I do try and secret lemonade every now and again however. on with the build. One thing I have noticed building at 1/24 is that everything takes longer to do. EVERYTHING. Last night I spent almost three hours at the bench and basically got a little bit of paint on. I admire anyone who has done one of these with a hairy stick alone. .... it sounds like I'm moaning. I'm not, I'm just shocked at how much time everything takes when it's that much bigger. Still having fun, just st a slower pace. hope you guys are too. Any way here is what got fiddled with. mixed rlm 02 got sprayed onto all the interior parts and some light chipping was done to check for goodness. Looks pretty good. I don't want to go too over board. Less is more. Must remember that I'm going to weather too. I started adding some detail accents to the wall panels and other bits and bobs. Then I glanced at the engine. hmmmmm. let's see where I need to add RLM 02 while I'm waiting for bits to dry. before I know what's going on I'm 3 coats into panel and pipe base colours. so I decided to go back to the chipping. it really looks quite nice, with weathering too I should be onto a winner. I was getting tired so did a quick dry fit and popped the light out for the night. coming along but slowly. I really don't want to rush it so that's your lot. Thanks for popping in. I have to dash. Dinner. Happy modelling guys. Johnny omnomnom. (by the way, I know there should be a mesh on the filter but it's going to be covered and I have bigger fish to fry. ) Edited September 7, 2017 by The Spadgent
The Spadgent
I never really thought about it but the belts I've ordered are on their way as we speak from Germany. it was cheaper to get them from there rather than from their Irish source. MaDnEsS I tells ya. Hopefully they'll turn up soon as I can't glue the seat on without em. Edited November 30, 2016 by The Spadgent

The Spadgent
Two posts in one day. I'm feeling like a Martian. But not as good. just a smidge more done. I'm feeling better about the look now I have some slight detailing on. The oil and weathering will really help in the next step. Do any of you guys know if the numbers sprayed on the engine are important? I was going to try and put some on. Maybe the ones from Steves pics. would that be bad? thanks for nipping in for a night cap. im having one for the road. Happy modelling and happy December you guys. Johnny. I think the numbers stencilled onto the engines were would have been unique to the aircraft they were fitted to, and so dependant on the aircraft you're modelling, you'd need to know the number on the engine originally fitted to that plane......if you want to follow 'strict' accuracy Nice job on this one so far - following with interest.... I built one of these some 20 years ago (with transfers for Joseph 'Pips' Priller's mount, I believe) and it still looks pretty good today, but without any of the finesse or skill that you're showing here

I'm damned if I know which one I'm building. I'll check the serial of the kit and see if I can't find the engine no. If not it's going to have to be creative lisence time. thanks for letting me know. Martian
That belt will make a lot of difference, I have used them a few times now and can vouch for the fact that they improve a cockpit no end. Martian

The Spadgent
Evening all. thanks for all the kind words as ever. I got some bench time yesterday afternoon and this morning to add some weathering to my glossed engine and cockpit parts. first off some raw flory action. mmmm messy. then rubbed back. Not bad. A few darker passes and she'll be good to go. I've decided not to add the number, better safe than sorry. I really wanted to dry fit the engine into the fuselage. Flashy, flashy fuselage. by the way the light was lovely again this morning. not too bad a fit really, that is until you see this side. remembering the brute force technique adopted in the Prowler build I squeezed and taped. doddle. decided to have a go at those belts, opened the instructions. and being Sunday morning with a slight hangover popped 'em back in their little bag. weathering the office seemed more therapeutic so off we went to Flory-ville. And the other side. annnd the other, other side. Some of the other parts got weathered too. Including this little fella with his Quich foil scratch coat. and that ladies and gents is were we are as of now. I might be able to get a bit more done tonight but regardless I'm happy with this weekend progress. Thanks for sliding by and watching this beastie come together. Happy Modelling dear friends. until next time. Johnny. Edited September 7, 2017 by The Spadgent
Martian
The washes have really popped the detail out. As for doing the RB belts with a hangover, don't, its a really pants idea. They look great but you are going to need 110% concentration. Martian
