Inkjet decal fixative?

RidgeRunner

Hi all,

Having made a number of decals on my trusty HP 6000 I am now wondering if there is a better way. I current print on a clear decal sheet and then "fix" with a cost or two of enamel mattcote (Humbrol). Is there a better product to use?

All advice really appreciated. Thanks.

As Bill said, Micro decal film is good, very good.

Testors has a spray coat specifically designed for inkjet printed decals, I've never seen this in Europe though. Have to say that reading the various danger indications printed on the spray can made me realise that maybe there's a reason why it was not imported, sounded like spraying this product would have killed all living beings in a range of several yards...

I've always used Humbrol Gloss Cote (the clear enamel varnish) and brushed on, as it was what I had to hand. I would steer clear of anything water based, especially if brushing and always test a on something small before ruining half a sheet of decals!
