A random lot of builds, X-15 SHAR, TB1, SR-71, 109, 190, Hurri, Spit, Hawk, He-162, F117, Jag, A-10, etc. (Added Beau)

Well, just to show that I really do build bits and pieces, here is a gathering of recent builds (easier than starting separate threads for each).

Mainly Out of The Box. The main aftermarket stuff is added bang-seats, paint and tamiya tape!

The MPM X15-A2. (pocket money scale).

Not my preferred scale but this is a lovely little kit. First attempt at foiling on the tanks.

Hasegawa He-162. (1:48)

This was a lovely little build which added to my interest in German WW2 jets.

The old Tamiya SHAR FRS1. (1:48). Nothing like XDSG!

A small wrestling match was entered into here, but overall the kit goes together well. Not the nicest cockpit, so a bang seat was added.

Revell SEPECAT Jag. (1:48).

Inspiration for this came from the old Illustrated Encyclopedia of Aircraft (80's) and the loadout reflects this.

Another old Tamiya kit, the A-10! (1:48).

After reading about the activities out of "Cajun West" in GW1, the AC were massively loaded for the journey out to the op area, and on the way they'd drop dumb bombs on "Home Depot" before carrying on with the rest of the ord.

I was tempted to do the RFOA-10G variant, which is still tempting... The lizard scheme was too tempting though.

Airfix Hawk. (1:48)

As a re-introduction to the new AFX kits, these have come as a pleasant surprise! Followed by the Spit, Bf-109 & Hurricane.

Nice job, far more productive than I can be...

How many time for this bunch of fine birds ?

Congratulations.

Hi Corsaircorp. The X-15 was put in the display case on Tuesday and the rest (among a few others) would be over the last 1 1/2 years I guess? Most of my builds get bogged down at some stage, so I just walk away from them for a while.

The canopy fit of the F-117 was problematic, so I ignored it for a month and a half then re-commenced work.

Blimey, someone's been busy.

That's a nice collection of models. I particularly like the Sea Harrier and the Jaguar, but I'd hate to get on the wrong end of the A10.

Hello,

I totally agree about the A-10, and even as you know that it is just an exercice, it's an hairy sensation, the worst is that you see nothing.

You hear her sometimes, and that's all, set apart the distastefull shower of uranium loaded pieces of metal.

The Jaguar is not more fun at this kind of game, more conventional as you hear Nothing, lead is flying and then jet noise for everyone ;)

Ah Thank God, I'm not alone in the case...

I began my Monogram A-10 in 1988 and something, there's always something that did'nt agree me, for this while, I rescribe the panels, added a new cockpit ( the Verlinden set but not very satified about it.)

And a 30mm gun with ammo drum.

I thank you for reassuring me.

Nice load of builds. Also good to see a Hawk not wearing a red frock but a little black number instead.

It's interesting that I was thinking you would approve of the XDSG on the SHAR, whilst I was spraying it!

Certainly had to do something different with the Senior Service Hawk though.

Nice work. You've got to be happy with those results. It's good to see customers building models we sell them ;-)

Keep up the good work.

Many thanks for your guidance and advice Alan! Much appreciated.

Well, only 4hrs until the new year, so the cement has only just dried on the undercarriage of the final completion for 2016.

A nice, simple build to go out on.

Thunderbird 1.

I decided to be different here and go for the "gear down" position.

Hi Big X, Happy New Year to you!

Yes, the 109, Spitfire and Hurricane and BAe Hawk are the new-box 1:48th kits. These are all really quite nice and go together with very little hassle.

As an exposure to the new levels of production/tooling at Airfix, it was a nice surprise.

Hope you have fun with yours when it arrives!

My latest build is the old (ancient?) Monogram P-61 Black Widow night fighter. This was started around September last year then the F-20 jumped to the front of the queue.

I was initially surprised with the level of detail internally, being really quite nice for that era, however I did put a bit of PE into her too. The top turret gun barrel shrouds (tricky to get round) are PE covers to the kit plastic.

Deciding to show off the lines, closing up the "open" clear hatches proved a challenge and needed plenty of evergreen sheet added to edges in an attempt to seal them. Gaps of 2mm came supplied as standard with the kit parts...

With the age of the decals I was concerned, but they detached from the backing paper easily and quickly, however I learned that being faster than the fat kit in a cake shop was required to get them positioned and pressed down. Trouble awaits the procrastinator, but they did set down nicely.

You can also play "Spot the hairystick painted areas" as the brush did need to come out in a few areas.

Good morning Hairy

I love the eclectic mix of aircraft, personal favourites of the ones posted are the Hurricane and the Blackbird.

The recent Black Widow look the business, did you need need to add any weight to it as it looks a tail sitter from side on ?

What aircraft can we look forward to seeing next and what are you currently working on ?

cheers Pat
