Live bait! *Done!!*

Joss

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

In the near future I plan on building livebait which is a p51b (or was it a c)...

Anyway feel free to tag along, I plan on using the tamiya mustang kit with Eduard pe and aeromaster decals, I may add some resin bits and bobs such as drop tanks and wheels!

A little teaser;

I also have a tamiya D in the stash so may do grim reaper later!

Thanks for looking

No start yet but getting excited to start this one!

These two arrived in the post today,

And then there's a few more things to arrive.

The only question is how the drop tanks attach to the plastic parts :hmmm:

We will jump that hurdle when we get to it.:hobbyhorse:

Cheers for looking

And some more fiddling, Instrument panel decals attached, i thought they looked to bright to begin with so I coated them with a matt varnish then applied pva to the face to try and recreate a glass effect.

As you can see from the pic above I have used the pe pedals here's them just after I made them.

Going to wait for these two to dry and then tone them down abit!

Closing her up tomorrow! Interestingly the box at the back of the cockpit  stops the fuselage fitting together, so that was removed!

Any comments or suggestions welcome

Excellent work. Worth putting-in the hard-yards at this stage, it'll pay-off later.

Ian.

Cheers Ian!! Hopefully it will if I finish it!! ;)

Although she is coming together nicely.

She's nearly all stuck together now.

I tried my hand at abit of rivetting but got abit bored. So a little question for anyone is rivetting worth it? Or where they just not visible on mustangs?

Any way now to decided whether to have the canopy open or not... Decisions, decisions.:hmmm:

Cheers Steve much appreciated!

I've tried something new today which is riveting! As in the rivetting on the plane that is...

So as I say it the fiest time of doing this so go easy on me as some of the lines aren't straight

As I say I'm not 100% on it so I may just fill it in.

Decided to stick with the rivets and she is now all undercoated and ready for the paint.

Going for a black primer to give the colour depth and work up from there. I was also going do a few different lighter colours on certain panels before the main coat to give variation.

In the mean time here she is.

I've started on the wheels as well the Eduard ones a certainly nice. I gave them a coat of black then painted the tread a midgrey this was then given a light coat of thinned black to tone the grey down.

It's subtle but it shows I think.

More to follow.

Started painting the grey, went lightly so may do a couple more coats. Finally getting the hang of hataka paints now!

Then to add a highlight, then a littlel post shading depend on how the highlighting goes.

Not a huge update, just played around with abit of paint to get a slightly tired looking mustang.

IMG_20161117_222148

This is what ive come up with on the undwrside. Now to tape of the theatre bands, spray them and then onto the top side.

Thanks for looking. Any comments and advice welcome!

Good evening evrtone!

So I've made a lot more progress today  scary stuff I know.

Baiscly most of the main aircraft is now painted just had a little bit of paint peeled of during the unmasking :wall: still we can fix it!

Rightio here's a few pics,

IMG_20161120_123221

This in the start of the base colouring.

IMG_20161120_123221

A little bit of heavy highlighting

IMG_20161120_123721

Then a diluted base colour sprayed over to tone everything back and add depth to the model.

IMG_20161120_154900

Followed by the theatre stripes.these where painted on a grey white to make them not as bright.

IMG_20161119_175942

Then the underside.

Next up gloss coat decals and the fun part weathering.

Let me know what you think. Any comments welcome!!! :please:

Cheers AtA,

I hope to add the normal exhaust stains then I'm going to have a try with a dot filter, then some normal oil washes after that. I'm hoping it'll turn out alright

Thanks for looking

So after asking some advice on the GB patrice showed me a video that showed live bait was named Peggy prior to be transferred.

The decal sheets lacked "Peggy" for the right hand side. Due to the fact the mustang I'm doing is responsibly weather previous paint may have shown through so I'm experimenting.

First to paint Peggy on and let it dry.

IMG_20161124_145228

I'm going to spray over it leaving a little showing through. Let me know what you think as I am winging it a little bit here ;)
