IanHx
Normally build fast jets, so this is something of a different direction for me. Better go look for a kit... Whadya mean , not THAT sort of Mustang ? Ok, here we go - will be building this one : Like aircraft with shark teeth, so it's going to be the Korea 1952 option as shown on the box. First impressions : * are you sure it's not 1:144 ? This thing is TINY compared to Foxbats and Phantoms..... * there must be some bits missing - can't find the jet exhausts or the pitot to go on the nose But seriously, the kit looks like it has reasonable detail on the visible parts as per other recent Airfix kits (eg Swift ). Looking forward to building muh 'Stang.... Edited December 28, 2016 by IanHx
rio
Just finished this one. The sharks teeth are a real pain to settle around the curves. Rio

rio
Used a lot of micro sol and set, and still not right. Should be ok once I dirty the front up for the diorama I want it for. rio
IanHx
Update : this morning I found a strange note on the workbench "Control columns are yummy - CM" Much scabbling around yielded said piece in twice as many pieces as Airfix intended ! Seat, intrument panel and control stick (s) glued into place. Waiting for paint to dry before attempting IP decal

IanHx
After careful research and consideration, decided to build this one flaps down. ( Translation : the flaps up bits didn't fit as well and I couldn't be bothered to sand them until they did ! )

IanHx
Dear Airfix, I would like to nominate the landing light (part 3D) from your F-51 Mustang kit for the award of "most fiddly part 2016". This is a part such little importance yet so much awkwardness to fit, it must surely have been designed by Beelzebub himself. Even the carpet monster refused to swallow it. For managing to suck all the enjoyment out of an otherwise fine kit with just 3 mm of plastic , we salute you ! IanHx
To quote Star Wars, "... almost there....." Just the dorsal aerial to glue on. And then it's done. IanHx
To quote Top Gear, "....How hard can it be ?" Aerial snapped coming off runner. IanHx
Last glue and paint drying, pics to follow. So what do I think of my first foray into things powered by house-fans ? Mixture of good and bad - on the good side, not overly complicated parts-wise. On the bad side, I left the stash room door open and a Mosquito flew in. Accompanied by its friends Typhoon and Lightning - and I don't mean the cool Mach 2 kind
