Murdo
So, got another two wee 1:144 kits finished last night and tonight. These are the Revel Micro Wings Hurricane and P40 Kittyhawk. The kits were about 2 quid each so I wasn't expecting superior quality but they went together fine. I cut the canopy open on the Hurricane to show the "scratchbuilt cockpit bits". I'd no sooner done so than I realised how thick the canopy was and wished I hadn't. Painted in Tamiya RAF Green and Flat Earth with Tamiya Sky underneath. Anyhoos, here's the pics: The Kittyhawk was painted in Tamiya Wooden Deck Tan and Flat Earth with a concocted mix for Azure Blue. I used AM Mehusala (?) roundels and lettering. The shark mouth and eye are home made decals. I also lost the undercarriage so had to scratchbuild new ones which are a bit crude. Should have the last one finished for tomorrow night. Spitfire31
Good job on what must be one of the worst Hurricane kits, shapewise that is. It would be difficult to squeeze a 144th scale Merlin into that front end… ;-) The Kittyhawk shape looks more convincing to me, but then I'm not that familiar with the type. Nice modelling! Kind regards, Joachim
ModellerUK
great detail in such a small scale
Jessica
You need to talk to your riggers; they've put the Hurricane's canopy on backwards! They spoiled all your great work. Now if you want a rest from fighting those Revell kits, look up the Sweet Hurricanes for a nice relaxing build and a bonus accurate model while you're at it
rio
Nice job on the Hurricane, especially as its the Revell one. Got to agree with Jessica the Sweet Hurricanes are a beauty to build. rio
Murdo
Thanks all, much appreciated. Jessica, the riggers were turned around at the gate on the way home and their weekend is cancelled until they sort the canopy.
