Simon
Looks nice. Just one tiny quibble: the French Air Force EC 314 tail markings (decals 55 and 56 in the third image) look to me to be the wrong colour - the inside of the triangle should be green, not red: http://www.traditions-air.fr/images/photos/ecole314a01.jpg Simon Edited October 12, 2016 by Julien Please dont post copyrighted images. PattheCat
Foced to make hard choices again. The GWH one was on my "to buy this year" list . Pondering..... Belgian decals! Done. Well, two weeks is perfect timing, I'll just have to add this one to Airfix P40 on my next order. You people at Tanmodel must be mind readers. Should I say Thanks for parting me from my hard earned money? Yeeeess! Edited October 12, 2016 by PattheCat

Wez
French, Spanish, Italian and that's just for starters then there's those all of those decal sheet options I've been saving up for ages (including the correct colour badge for the French scheme)... ...looking forward to this one. Are Ultimate Modelling still your UK distributor?
71chally
I don't know enough about these, can the later variants and Silverstars be built from this kit?

Mountain goat
Big fan of Platz stuff so I hope this one will fall in the same price bracket as Platz (HLJ prices that is) - additionally I am very much hoping the 'US Air Force' titles are not in black as they seem in the pics but very very very dark blue as they should be - the decals are the big potential selling point for me. Can anyone confirm this? Jay Edited October 13, 2016 by Mountain goat

I'm certainly no specialist but looking at sprue shots of the Platz kit, the pitot is on the underside and moulded integral with the left fuselage half. Also there is no Tacan antenna above the nose, so I would say it's an early T-bird. Edited October 13, 2016 by PattheCat

James, What do you mean about later versions? I'm no expert on the type myself (although I am hugely enthusiastic about it), I know of the T-33A-1-LO and the T-33A-5-LO having different instrument panel and cockpit layouts (and colouring), also, I think the -1 had guns (or at least the openings for them), but the -5 didn't. Is the French T-33 you've posted above is a Silver Star? I think the elliptical vent just above the roundel is one of the differences between the types. Hopefully some wise and knowledgeable soul will come along and dispense great wisdom. There are some fantastic colour schemes for this aircraft!
71chally
I'm in the same boat as you Wez, something I admire and remember seeing around as a kid, but don't know much about them. A 48th version was released recently where someone mentioned it didn't cover the latter versions, but unsure on differences. Aerials and vents etc I can deal with. Silverstars where the Canadian built CT-133 versions, which is what I would like to build as I saw them in service. Agree though, great looking kit with some great markings, makes you want to do a whole pile of them! Edited October 14, 2016 by 71chally
Flyboy72nd
The pic of the French a/c does indeed show it's Canadair heritage, that vent was necessary for a little extra cooling for the Nene 10 hidden inside!!

Thanks for confirming that, I just need to find a close-up view of that vent now to get the shape right. Are there any more differences?
Mountain goat
I see it's priced at 35 euros. Hmmm... Jay
172flogger
Original Platz with engine was under 20 euros in Japan. And without engine is still for half price compared to the TAN. Edited November 4, 2016 by 172flogger
TEMPESTMK5
Good morning 35 euros hum still a little bit too expensive for my wallet and yes 172flogger is right one can find the original Platz for around 20 euros (including post charges ).. Mountain goat
And that's only the pre-order price, normal price is 38 - you get almost two Platz's for that. Am giving it a pass. Jay Edited November 4, 2016 by Mountain goat
Wez
Way to rich for me! I was expecting it to come in at around the £15 mark, 35-38 euros makes it similar in cost to the GWH 1/48th kit.

I thought my mind was set but hesitating between the two now, That nice decal sheet with the Tan one makes it still really tempting. 172flogger
We still could buy 4+ DOZEN aftermarket decal set and divide to 12 happy modellers :-)
71chally
It does seem an odd pricing strategy, given that their 48th RF-84 can be had for £36-
