Hi all,

Here is the new logo with the tint version of the Sunderlands picture and the three pictures in chronological order:

y4mqfn9eDqSolSwuxwwolClIuJAK5Tz8MXdNKBnE

Should we elect this one as the official GB logo?

Cheers

Jaime

I like that a lot Jaime; very nice

Nice font, good colours and very balanced.

It gets a positive vote from Mr. TTiger.

Well done

Thanks Tony!  I also like it 😊

I chose the font due to it's 1930s look. In fact it's the Broadway font, created in 1927 and it's an Art Deco creation,  right from the golden age of flying boats:

Thanks very much, Pat! Very kind!

In view of the positive reactions, I'll start using this logo as the official GB logo.

I've now added the logo to my signature. Those interested in using it, just copy the link location of the image.

It's also uploaded to the GB banner area:

I had to resize it slightly smaller, as the initial version was a bit oversize for the signature restrictions.

Cheers

Hello Jaime, well done. As you can see, I've added it to my signature via Imgur. Cheers, Joe.

Still over a week on the Prototypes and World Firsts poll Jaime, then I'll change my banner over.

Please have a vote folks :)

Best regards

I've looked at all the proposals for this GB. I'm really impressed by the superb biplanes and vacforms which will be built.

By comparison, my proposals are boringly mainstream.  I hope to build two Sword kits in 1/72: the Arado Ar196 and the Curtiss SO3C Seamew.

I remember building the Airfix Arado when I were nowt but a lad. I enjoyed it and always wanted to build another Ar196.  Well, now is the time.

My reasons for the Seamew are twofold:  I like Sword kits and the Seamew looks a bit weird. :D

Tony: I've already voted! There's a good selection of subjects and the choice was not straightforward.

Hi Enzo,

You may consider your choices as "boringly mainstream" but I have to disagree :D I always liked the Ar196 and been looking for a good kit of it. Thanks for calling my attention to the Sword offer. On the other hand, the Seamew is a really interesting subject! I really like all this variety of shapes and forms of seaplanes!

I'm still undecided but I'll probably do either the Italeri Do 24 or the Eduard "The Boat" boxing: they weren't biplanes, had minimal rigging and they come already with all the needed extras.

Cheers

Four weeks and three days to go and then I have a decision to make:

Which one first? Exciting...

Crikey! What a great stash of floaty wingy things! :pilot:

Just build all of them.:D.

I built the Junkers many years ago; the corrugated surface provides an interesting modelling challenge; filler and sanding has to be mainly avoided. It builds up quite well to be honest.

The Heller kit has the edge, but all Auntie Ju kits are fun :)

Sunderland :o!

Sunderland....

;)

My Build for this GB will be a Sunderland, an RNZAF one :D

My apologies for photo links, using Google Drive - still rescuing my myriad of photos from PB, and have not decided on any other photo sharing

site.

This year is the Fiftieth Anniversary of the the Sunderland MR5 leaving RNZAF service.

My choices:

1)  NZ4115 Q-Queenie

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3Yff6LKWML1RFdBdDFfNHN1TWs/view?usp=sharing

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3Yff6LKWML1OUkyWVg2NVdXbWM/view?usp=sharing

Thinking of doing her in the Braby either at Lauthala Bay Fiji, or at Hobsonville, here in Auckland - great memories of walking on the braby to board

the Sunderland moored there at the time (a number of times actually )

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3Yff6LKWML1WHU0SGRqdHJMTDQ/view?usp=sharing

2) RNZAF Sunderland NZ4111 wreck at Chatham Islands - diorama of the Sunderland being reduced to produce

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3Yff6LKWML1aFJ0Y3VvWU00ZUE/view?usp=sharing

History here NZ4111

3) A RNZAF Mk III Sunderland Transport as used in Pacific Theatre WWII

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3Yff6LKWML1SFVHTUdkal9hSTA/view?usp=sharing

Kit Choices for builds are:

NZ4115 Q-Queenie - Lincoln or Kader kit 1/154 scale - ignore the horrid box top art

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3Yff6LKWML1TE90SDNRYTc4Z3M/view?usp=sharing

Next to an Airfix Sunderland - note sizes

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3Yff6LKWML1RTFXdUZNMEE5VFE/view?usp=sharing

For the Chatham Island wreck or Mk III an Airfix kit

Regards

Alan

Definitely the Vulcan floatplane, quite possibly one of the greater "What ifs" in history :P

Seriously, the Sunderland gets my vote

Good luck Ced

Alan, thanks for sharing your plans for the GB. Sunderlands are always very welcome! I have the Italeri's in the stash but don't think I'd be able to finish it within the time frame of the GB, especially because I'd like to super detail it with Eduard's BIG PE set.

I'm afraid "What ifs" are not allowed :P But a Vulcan on floats with be an amazing sight :D

Hi Jaime,

Sunderland  is my all time favorite aircraft, having grown up on an RNZAF Sunderland base

I have had a Mk III build underway for some time now which you are welcome to read through though Photo Bucket have dealt to my photos,

will have to go back at some point and redo the photo links (you can still view the photos by right clicking "View", then when the photo bucket page loads

go "Control F5" and the photo will appear)

FWIW: Some of the Eduard sets are nice like the inspection stands etc, but the rest is actually bogus (as in doesn't exist) on a real Sunderland.

Porthole inserts for none opening portholes and fuel tank covers etc - plus the Mk III Sunderland has additional tanks not shown by the Eduard sets..........

Kind regards

Alan

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the link. I'm afraid PB is blocking all the images even when I click "view image". F5 didn't show the images either but I'm using Firefox and I'm not sure if you used that shortcut with this browser.

Regarding the Eduard sets, are they completely wrong? Is there a reference source which allows us to check what's wrong and what's right?

Thanks

Jaime
