TAH-1F Cobra Flying Bulls

 Revell 1/48

with the danger of non approval by the BG mods for unlikeliness of finishing the Super Cobra, I am gonna start another one while I am waiting for decals to arrive :)

as already mentioned in the chat thread, I saw this one perform marvelously at Airpower 16 last month :pilot:

I just "found" the Flying Bulls TAH-1F Cobra in the stash.... looks like a fast and straight forward build ;)

some impressions:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2TCnws7lnI

the scheme is of course a bit gaudy..... BUT there is a Cobra flying a very spirited display! the only one anywhere to be seen at the airshow circuit in Europe!

box contents:

standard Revell/ Monogram AH-1F which is about to be ok. They "just" did not provide most parts of the weapons, including the inner stub wing pylons which would have been needed

decals look a bit complicated but well printed

in all its glory at Airpower 2016:

hope you approve my model even as  I assume that this was not in the original mind of the GB ... but I think it fits the rules.....

best Werner

as there was some spare time today to be found, I started !:)

it is actually a quite simple kit with few parts. the plastic is quite soft, unexpectedly soft.... maybe because of the black color it is in?

sorry for the bad quality pictures, but when moving along fast you cant stop waiting for better light.... ;)

main parts cleaned, cockpit components glued as far as possible before painting. Having just done that to the Super Cobra certainly helps making up ones mind ;)

size and general comparison with it:

similar layout, but hardly any common areas/ parts....

this time I thought early on some nose weight :)

and traraa!:

there is a Cobra!

to be continued!

That was quick mate. Super building.

Must check my cobra for tail sitting, but my instructions make no mention of nose weight requirements.

Don't worry about eligibility of entrance, as you've shown empirical proof of operational history, and it is a cobra after all.

Have fun tackling those decals.

masked the canopy today, so hopefully will glue it soon!  It seems that I do not have the fit issues others have here... let's see it glued...

Any thoughts on how you're going to tackle the decals? They look complicated, and seem to have heartache and disaster written all over them.

we will see, I guess I will mount the stub wings afterwards.... others have done it.... so it will be do-able! - I hope!

canopy masked and glued

targeting sensor and cannon mount mounted

the infamous missing inner pylons scratch built

no photobucket now it seems - strange as I just uploaded the pictures...

Nice job on the canopy.

Didn't realise how small they were in 72nd, maybe because my 32nd one seems so big.

Matt

:)

no idea,

it is 1/48 ..... :D

and they are not really big, that is true ...

by the way, photobucket down again... it seems

I started with the tail in order to get some feeling for the decals, and then moved on straight to the bull
