Los Angeles Flight II 1/350

Recommended Posts

Hi

A new model finished : SSN 723 USS Oklahoma City (Los Angeles Class - Flight II) from Riich models 1/350 scale.

I only changed the propeller (on the 688 Flight I too) and scratchbuild the mast .

Those are beautifully finished!

I'm not normally a big fan of sub models, but these have really captured my interest, well done.

Very nicely done Pierre, great finish. Only one small comment is your missing the non slip walkway running down the top of the sub. I usually paint these matt black in contrast to satin black for the hull.

All the best Chris

Thx all

Chris . It's very subtil but I painted walkway and bow with Tamiya XF 1(matt black) and the upper hull with mixed (X-18 + XF 69).

Great looking subs. The waterlining on the Oke City is excellent.

A pair of very hard working boats - would be interested to know how you achieved the weathering effects.

Thx for yours comments

Ok I tried to explain my weathering method (sorry for my mistake English......I'm french )

After paint and decals I put a layer of Klir (a product to wash the ground but in fact an acrylic vanish).Masking the water line and I started the weathering with pigments (different white , grey).I put a "juice" sorry but I can't find the English translation ; it's a mixed with Humbrol light grey paint and lot of white spirit (90 - 95 %).Let it flow this mixed on the hull .If I want some green I use Mig product effects slimy grime dark and slimy grime light .Finally a matt vanish .

I hope to have been explicit
