The same kit is selling from HobbyLink Japan for 4,320 Yen. That's a 136% mark-up. Even with VAT, shipping and import charges you will probably come out cheaper ordering from Japan. Thanks for the info. Does HBJ actually operate out of Japan? I thought maybe he/they were an importer to the US. Either way it seems a good set up if they can provide kits at 'proper' prices. I have no connection to them other than being a satisfied customer for the last 15 years or so. https://hlj.com/product/HSG02241 https://hlj.com/product/HSGE29

I'm also after Hasegawa's Mosquito NF.XII which is over £40 here at the moment. Curiously, Tamiya's Mossies are only about £16.

stevehnz
The Italeri -D kit is the Academy plastic, I've got one squirrelled away to do Lloyd Trigg's aircraft, with a Pavla kit which has the BP turret in it, Leigh light & radome to replace the ball turret as well. I've also got an Academy PB4Y-1 kit, cheapish from Creative last year, that's for a USN ship from Cornwall, & a Hasegawa -J to do a Pacific USAF ship, "Cocktail Hour" I liked the nose art. Do I need anymore Libs, nah, probably buy one though if they're not too spendy, I'd like do one from 224 sqn from Arthur Clouston"s time with them. $200.00, hell PG, that'd be 1/48 is it? Feel free to PM me if I can help you track anything down at better prices, I'm as mean as hell & pretty good at sniffing out a deal. Steve. IrishKiwi
The Hasegawa kit is a very good base from which to do Trigg's aircraft. Responding to the last post - I am currently researching his aircraft and it is not easy finding out about this aircraft in terms of did it have a Leigh light and radome? I have since found out that the Liberator Mk.III were not fitted to such aircraft until early 1944, and Trigg's action occurred August 1943. This was the first time that he flew a Liberator. The same may also apply to the radome? I have seen a 1/72 model of Trigg's plane with the Leigh light fitted, on line. I have however, a decal set of his plane made specially by Old Model Decals - a New Zealand specialising in Kiwi aircraft decals. If anyone is interested in this decal sheet, I can pass on contact details

IrishKiwi
Hi Steve, I got one especially made. John got it done at the printers as part of a special run. But if you request same, I am sure John can do this again having already produced one.
Edge
Oddly Hasegawa have just re-released their kit as a Coastal Command Mk.III/V with, I am sure, a BP rear turret. Perhaps Eduard have assisted on this (vanilla) kit and are working on a more detailed set of accessories to go with their release. Edge

occa
Nice versions especially the ones with the chin radome. But I thought the rocket platforms below the cockpit would be included ?

IrishKiwi
Hi Palmy Grunter. I am also a newbie and I am just down the road in Masterton. I want to do the Liberator as flown by Trigg VC. The Hasegawa kit is still an option for about NZ$110 to $130. The Eduard offering may be better in quality but if the price is NZ$200 then it would have to be a lot better. Time and reviews will tell.

kiwitrogg
I'm currently building BZ862 'A' of 354 Sqn in 1/48 with reference to a grainy photo taken by Jim Badgley ( 1/3 the way down here, Geoff Tomlinson's Plane, Early 354 http://www.rquirk.com/354photos/354jbphoto2.pdf ) and have spent hours and hours over the last couple of months cobbling together configuration details from other photos dotted here and there on t'net. Oh look ! Eduard are doing one now ! I could have just checked out their instruction sheet for info! If only........ General Modelling Laws are still being applied. You're welcome Cheers Gaz
